The King of Cool: Leather Wide Military Band with White Gold Daytona with Black Dial...

The first person I know of to wear a Rolex on a wide Military strap was Paul Newman in the early 1970s.

Eric Clapton and John Mayer also sport this look, and it seems to be gaining in popularity these days, but like so many trends in cool, the first person I know of to sport this look is, of course, the King–as seen in this publicity photo from 1968.

Even though the watch below looks very similar to a stainless steel Daytona there are two distinct but subtle clues that it is a white gold Daytona.  First is the lug link extension, and secondly are the mini pyramid indicators on the bezel. The lug link extension really gives this Daytona a finished look.

What an pleasure it is to open up this Magazine/Library in the morning and get the latest or oldest news.
It doesn't get any better when Elvis and his watches are presented.
