John McCain Rolex Datejust

Note: I originally published this story a week ago on August 25th, 2018, but I kept updating this amazing story as it unfolded—so I thought I would bring it back up to the top story. The video content toward the end of this story is very impressive, especially President Obama's Eulogy for John McCain...

Senator John McCain

Belongs To The Ages

1936-2018

"Nothing in life is more liberating than
to fight for a cause larger than yourself."

—John McCain

In this photo from November of 1982, you see John McCain with his wife Cindy the month he was elected to the United States House of Representatives from the state of Arizona and notice he is wearing a Rolex Datejust on a Jubilee Bracelet.

John McCain is pictured below as a young boy (center) sitting between his grandfather and father. His grandfather John S. McCain was a Vice Admiral at the time this photo was taken and went on to become an Admiral. His father John S. McCain Jr. was a Commander at the time and also went on to become an Admiral.

John McCain graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1958. He followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather who were both four-star admirals in the U.S. Navy. John McCain is pictured below with his father.

Lieutenant John McCain is pictured below in 1964 in his official United States Navy Portrait.

John McCain is pictured below (front right) as a naval aviator with his squadron in 1965. On October 26, 1967, during the Vietnam war, McCain was on a bombing mission as part of Operation Rolling Thunder and was shot down over Hanoi.

McCain was shot down and in the photo below we see him being rescued on Hanoi's Truc Bach Lack be a number of Hanoi residents. He was seriously injured and remained a prisoner of war until 1973.

In the photo below we see John McCain's father, John S. McCain Jr, who at the time was the Chief of U.S. Forces for the Pacific Fleet chatting with then U.S. President Nixon in the Oval Office. Ironically, at the time this photo was taken John McCain was in a Vietnamese jail as a prisoner of war.

In the photo below from 1973, we see John McCain receiving a hero's welcome from President Nixon.

John McCain is pictured below with actor Michael Landon (second from right), and Governor Ronald Reagan on May 28, 1978, attending a POW reunion part in Los Angeles.

In 1981 McCain retired from the Navy as a captain and began his career as a politician. In 1982, he was elected to the United States House of Representatives representing the state of Arizona, where he served two terms. John McCain is pictured below with his wife Cindy, and two of their children.

John McCain is pictured below with his family as he is being sworn in as a US Senator from Arizona by then Vice President, George H.W. Bush in 1987. In this photo, notice John McCain is wearing his two-tone Rolex Datejust.

In 1987 he ran for U.S. Senate and was reelected four more times until he retired in 2016. Senator John McCain, who was also a Vietnam War veteran is pictured below in 1992 with fellow Senator John Kerry during a Senate Select Committee session on POW/MIA Affairs. Notice Senator McCain is wearing his two-tone Rolex Datejust on a Jubilee Bracelet.

John McCain famously ran for President of the United States against Barack Obama in 2008.
