A President Wearing A Rolex President...[Chapter 11]

President Gerald Ford

38th President Of The United States

A President Wearing A Rolex President

In the photo above we see Gerald Ford, with his wife Betty Ford, sporting his yellow-gold Rolex President wrist-watch also known as the Rolex Day-Date. Rolex always offers a Rolex Day-Date to every President Of The United States, and they did with Gerald Ford, but he refused to accept it for some reason!?!

According to retired Rolex U.S.A., executive, T. Walker Lloyd, after Gerald Ford completed his presidency, he contacted Rolex and said he wished to get his Rolex President. Supposedly Rolex said no, so President Ford went and purchased his from an AD.

In the next photo below we see President Of The United States, Gerald Ford's official portrait photo.

Gerald Ford is pictured below with Jimmy Carter, to whom he lost the 1976 Presidential Election. Notice Ford is wearing his Rolex Day-Date.

Gerald Ford is pictured above with President Ronald Reagan on June 29, 1981, and he is pictured below with his predecessor, Richard Nixon.

Legendary golfer, Arnold Palmer is pictured below in the Oval Office with President Ford, who was an avid golfer. Notice Arnold Palmer is wearing his same Rolex Day-Date on his wrist.

President Ford is pictured below in July of 1976, dancing in the White House with Queen Elizabeth who traveled to the United States to celebrate the bicentennial of the United States.

Lindsey Vonn

Rolex Golden Girl

2018 Winter Olympics Medal Winner

Lindsey Vonn during her 2018 Olympic run by Doug Mills/ The New York Times

You may have read my recent article on Rolex Ambassador, Lindsey Vonn as she prepared to compete in the 2018 Winter Olympics. Lindsey Vonn recently won the Bronze medal at the PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games. Lindsey is 33 years old today, which likely means this was her last Olympic performance, although you never know...

So let's begin by taking a close look at the bejeweled 41MM yellow gold Rolex Day-Date II she was wearing. Lindsey's model features a baguette diamond bezel with a diamond and ruby dial.

Lindsey Vonn set a record as she was the first American woman to ever win a gold medal in the Winter Olympics for downhill skiing when she won back in 2010. By winning the bronze medal at the 2018 winter Olympics, Lindsey set another record when she became the oldest woman to ever win a medal in the downhill skiing event.

Lindsey Vonn's Olympic experience was extremely emotional for her as you will learn by watching these videos about her relationship with her beloved Grandfather. Alert: Watching these highly emotional videos will probably make you cry...and hopefully smile as well...

"I wanted to win for my grandfather but I didn't. But I think he would still be proud of me for bronze, and I think that's what counts. My family is proud of me and I'm proud of myself. Today bronze to me feels like gold."

Rolex Instagram Page Image...

...Rolex Studio Shot of the Night...

I just noticed this really beautiful image on Rolex's Official Instagram Page, which is very cool looking. I am really curious as to what city that is in the background? Also, I think those cufflinks are way too ordinary looking...

Amazing Rolex Insight: Hans Wilsdorf Foundation

Hans Wilsdorf Foundation

Amazing Rolex Insight

Below this story, you can check out my story on Rolex's founder, Hans Wilsdorf. In that story, I mention that in 1945 just after his first wife passed away, Hans Wilsdorf setup The Hans Wilsdorf Foundation and transferred his 100% ownership of shares in Rolex to the foundation. To this day it remains a bit of a mystery as to why he did so.

HANS WILSDORF (Founder of Rolex)

I have always believed the ultimate success anybody can achieve in life is to leave this world we all share, a better place than when we came into it, and that is definitely the case with Hans Wilsdorf, as you will soon see. Not just because his beloved Rolex still makes such timeless watches, but also because of how he still supports the people of his adopted home of Geneva, Switzerland.

The Tribune de Genève recently published an article that offers unprecedented insight into how the Hans Wilsdorf Foundation works. It is written in French, so to read it in English, please click here.

The article makes some fascinating points:

• The Hans Wilsdorf Foundation remains the sole owner of Rolex.

• Rolex is the single largest taxpayer in the Canton of Geneva.

• Rolex dividends are paid to the Hans Wilsdorf Foundation, which is a non-profit organization.

• The Hans Wilsdorf Foundation makes donations to public works in Geneva, as well as to schools and people who live in Geneva.

• The Hans Wilsdorf Foundation is administered by an eight-member board of directors.

• The Hans Wilsdorf Foundation is extremely discreet and tight-lipped about EVERYTHING.

The Hans Wilsdorf Foundation website is written in French, so I am showing a version below that has been translated into English.

It is worth noting Rolex is one of the only private companies in the world that donates its profits to the benefit of society. It is estimated the Hans Wilsdorf Foundation donates a half billion dollars per year.

Since Rolex is a privately held company nobody knows for certain how wealthy it is. People have been speculating for many years based upon the number of watches they appear to sell annually how much Rolex is worth. But nobody knows what kinds of other wealth Rolex possesses. I have no idea if it is true, but somebody once told me that Rolex is the largest landlord in Geneva, and owns somewhere around half the Genevan real-estate.

In my personal opinion, Hans Wilsdorf is the epitome of a successful entrepreneur. You can learn much, much more about what made him tick by checking out my story below this one.

Sid Caesar: The Father Of American Comedy

..Rolex Ultra-Super Coolness...

American TV Comedy Pioneer

Sid Caesar

1922-2014

Kept The Time Of His Life With A Rolex Day-Date

Sid Caesar passed away exactly four years ago today on February 13, 2014, at his Beverly Hills home at the age of 91. Sid Caesar was best known as an early TV pioneer in the 1950s where he starred on the comedy hits, Your Show Of Shows and Caesar's Hour

Sid Caesar influenced many future generations of comedians. Many other famous comedians wrote for Sid Caesar early on in their careers. This list of comedic giants includes Mel Brooks, Larry Gelbart, Carl Reiner & Woody Allen. Steve Allen once said "Sid's was the show to which all comedy writers aspired. It was the place to be."

I remember years ago, watching an amazing Sid Caesar interview conducted by Charlie Rose, and Sid said something that stuck in my mind. He profoundly said:

"At the bottom of everything is money." –Sid Caesar

Sid Caesar is pictured below with his close friend who was also a legendary comedian, Milton Berle.

An Amazing Career

Sid Caesar was basically the Jerry Seinfeld and Jim Carrey of the 1950s. He was a physical comedian and in the 1950s his style of comedy was considered to be Avant Garde.

2007 Sid Caesar Interview

The following interview of Sid Caeser took place in 2007, and by watching this amazing interview, you really get a sense of the man and his career. Also, Sid Caesar is wearing his Rolex Day-Date.

Falcon Heavy Inaugural Test Flight

Falcon Heavy
Inaugural Test Flight

Welcome To the 21st Century!!!

These are amazing times we are living in. Especially from a technological perspective. So you think Elon Musk's introduction of the upcoming Tesla Roadster was impressive!?!! Yesterday, Elon Musk and Space X just completed the most amazing feat as seen in the video below, which shows the SPACE X Falcon Heavy taking off and landing again on earth. You have to watch this video!!!!

If you're not familiar with SPACE X's Falcon Heavy, it is the most powerful rocket on earth, with a twist. The twist is that the rocket are not only reusable, but can land back on earth as seen in the video above where they touchdown at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, which is located near the Kennedy Space Center. SPACE X is a privately held company started by Elon Musk, and yesterday they successfully launched their Falcon Heavy rocket on its maiden voyage. The Falcon Heavy is the most powerful booster rocket since NASA's Saturn V.

The Falcon Heavy took off yesterday from the same launch pad that NASA used to launch the Apollo moon missions and space shuttles, which is located in Florida at the Kennedy Space Center. Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin was in attendance and watched the Falcon Heavy launch from the exact same launch pad 39A he flew to the moon from in 1969. The Falcon Heavy took of at 3:35PM EST (2045GMT), which was more than two hours after the scheduled launch time.

The Falcon Heavy stands 23 stories tall and is powered by three core boosters that utilize Space X's Falcon 9 rockets: each of which has nine engines per booster for a total of 27 engines. These rocket engines fire in unison and produce around 5 million points of thrust (23 Kilonewtons) during liftoff.

The Falcon Heavy maiden voyage was a test and was sent to orbit around the sun, as well as to send Elon Musk's personal original Tesla Roadster to Mars. The Falcon Heavy is capable of carrying a payload of up to around 140,000 pounds (64,000 Kilographs). The next time the Falcon Heavy takes of in three to six months it will be carrying a payload of satellites.

Below is the SPACE X flight plan for the inaugural test flight of the Falcon Heavy.

Perhaps the most interesting feature of the Falcon Heavy maiden voyage was the payload and launch of Elon Musk's personal Tesla Roadster, which is seen below.

Elon placed a mannequin named "Starman" in his Tesla Roadster as seen below. Starman is an homage to David Bowie's song named "Starman." Starman has his right hand on the steeling, and his left arm is resting on the door.

During the third stage, Elon's cherry red Tesla Roadster was sent into an orbit that would take it past Mars to circle the Sun. The Roadster has three cameras attached to it. Elon Musk published the image below on Twitter and said, "Third burn successful. Exceeded Mars orbit and kept going to the Asteroid Belt."

A post shared by Elon Musk (@elonmusk) on

David Bowie (Starman) performing "Life on Mars"...

SPACE X's Falcon Heavy Flight was almost as impressive as this footage of Jumpin' Jive from 75 years ago!!!! Fred Astaire once pointed out that this was the most amazing dancing he had ever witnessed on film...Also, and this is hard to believe but true that the Nicholas Brothers nailed this, unrehearsed on their first take...Enjoy!!!

Sharon Stone: The First Modern Actress To Wear Men's Rolex Watches?

...Rolex Hotness...

Sharon Stone

The First Modern Actress To Wear Men's Rolex Watches?

Sounds kind of like Jerry Seinfeld saying "What is the deal with skydivers wearing helmets? Do they really think the helmet is going to do anything?" ;-))))))

Sharon Stone is one beautiful woman and she surely loves wearing Rolex watches as seen in this vintage 1980s shot!!! Sharon is wearing a two-tone Submariner with a black dial and bezel; a two-tone 36mm Datejust with a blue dial and I can't make out the third Rolex sandwiched in the middle. I just think I can make out an Oyster bracelet.

I wonder if it was Sharon Stone or Elle Macpherson who started the trend of women wearing men's Rolex watches? Actually the first woman I have ever been able to document wearing a man's Rolex actress, Honor Blackman when she played Pussy Galore in Goldfinger in 1964.

Then, just two years later in 1966, we see Vanessa Redgrave in the movie Blow Up sporting a stainless steel Rolex Submariner on a black strap. I always thought it was Elle Macpherson, but now I am wondering if it was Sharon? Just to conclude, it seem to have been a trend in movies in the mid 1960s, and then came back in the late 1980s.

Today we sell the vast majority (98%+) of women who wear Rolex watches wearing men's 36mm and 40mm watches. It is kind of interesting when you study the symbolism in this photo of Sharon Stone, wearing a man's tailored shirt and necktie, with men's boxer shorts on.

Sharon Stone is probably best known for costarring in the movie, Basic Instinct with Michael Douglas.

Sharen Stone starred in the science fiction movie, Sphere and she wore a her Stainless Submariner as seen below.

Sharon Stone Submariner

Sharon Stone is pictured below on the cover of the French ELLE Magazine wearing her Rolex Submariner.

If you go back in time far enough, you can see Sharon Stone wearing a ladies Rolex, as we see in the photos taken 23 years ago in 1986 when Ronald Reagan was still the President of the United States–many moons ago...

The photos below of Sharon Stone were taken on January 6, 2017, and show hugging Jeff Bridges at his Hand and Footprint Ceremony at TCL Chines Theater in Hollywood, California. Notice Sharon is wearing ladies Rolex with diamonds on the bezel.
