Tudor Monte Carlo Pair...

Tudor Monte Carlo

Rolex owns the Tudor watch brand. The most collectable Tudor watches are the Tudor "Monte Carlo" which over the years have come in a several different configurations, two of which are pictured below. I believe these rare vintage Tudor watches typically sell for around $25,000.

The New Pro-Hunter Daytona

Kamal, the owner of bjsonline.com which is located in London is pictured below. Kamal specializes in vintage Rolex watches.

Kamal has took this great wrist shot of the new Pro-Hunter Daytona, which is covered in a black coating which I believe uses a PVD coating. Jennifer Aniston is wearing a PVD coated Milgauss in the post from yesterday that we saw. These black aftermarket watches are really starting to become popular. PVD stands for Physical Vapour Deposition.

A Most Unusual NATO...

Rolex Moonphase on a NATO Strap
A Most Unusual Combination

This is a most unusual, but cool combination. Roberto from Italy put his Rolex Moonphase [Reference 8171] on a NATO strap and I think it looks really cool..

Dell Deaton's, James Bond Watches News...

James Bond Watches

Two pieces of awesome news from Dell Deaton's JamesBondWatches.com!!!

First, Dell has been working on putting together an extremely comprehensive and definitive list of James Bond Watches from the EON Production movies. You can visit Dell's superb list by clicking here. As you can see from the screen capture below, Dell has done an excellent job of putting together a very easy to understand list of all the watches worn in the movies.

Secondly, Dell recently announced on his James Bond Watches Blog that he is working with the National Watch & Clock Museum on developing a James Bond Watches exhibit that starts in June of 2010 and runs through May of 2011.

For the better part of 2008 Dell Deaton has served as the Lead Consultant to the NAWCC on this fascinating project. In the future Dell will continue to provide updates on his JamesBondWatches.BlogSpot.com site which you can visit by clicking here.

Also you can go directly to visit the story titled "National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors to display 'Bond Watches, James Bond Watches" by clicking here.

This sounds absolutely fascinating and Leo and I look forward to checking it out:

John Goldberger's 2009 Rolex Calendar...

2009 Rarest Rolex Submariner Calendar
WATCHES WITH A DESTINY

John Goldberger, is the author of 100 Superlative Rolex Watches, and for 2009, for his friends, he made 300 copies of his Rarest Rolex Submariner Calendar's. You can see the whole calender online by clicking here. Here is the really cool cover:

I included the first month of the calendar below which features an ultra-rare Rolex you have probably never seen. It is called a Rolex Sub-Aqua. Not a Submariner, but a Sub-Aqua. If you want to see the detailed review I did of John's excellent book, 100 Superlative Rolex Watches, please click here.

Santa on the International Space Station...

Rolex on the International Space Station at Christmas

Recently I was doing research in the NASA Archive and I came across this image of Dr. Leroy Chiao taken during Christmas onboard the International Space Station in 2004. Dr. Chiao flew on three Space Shuttle Missions prior to being the Commander of Expedition 10.

I wrote a detailed article that included a fascinating podcast interview with Dr. Chiao which you can see by clicking here. Beyond his incredible career as a NASA astronaut, Dr. Chiao is an amazing man of incredible achievement!!!

Of course Dr. Chiao is sporting his Pepsi GMT Master on the jubilee bracelet. I also think I see an HP iPaq Pocket PC floating around above the IBM Thinkpad in the upper right hand corner of the photo. We sure have come a long way in 4 years from the iPaq to the iPhone.

Rolex in Control at NASA in 1965

Rolex in Control at NASA

Dr. Wernher von Braun is pictured below at NASA ground control in 1965 during the testing of a Saturn rocket. Dr. von Braun is wearing a yellow gold Rolex and Dr. Kurt Debus who was the director of the Kennedy Space Center is also wearing his Rolex in this photo. Both men were former German rocket scientists.

Ironically, Dr. von Braun was the principal designer of the German V-2 rocket weapon as well as the Saturn V Moon rocket that put NASA astronauts on the Moon.
