A True Blue Sub A Rolex Submariner Customized–Kinda? Sorta, Maybe!?!

Update on December 7th: It is amazing how many people have mentioned to me that they love the look of this combination! My girlfriend saw it and freaked out and said, "I love that watch! That's the watch I want!!!" Since she saw the photos first without realizing what she was looking at, I had to tell her it was not available, at least off-the-shelf that way. Hopefully Rolex will offer this option in the future, because it looks great!!!!

Customized–Kinda? Sorta, Maybe!?!

There are several schools of thought when it comes to customizing Rolex watches. First, there are the purists who say you shouldn't modify a stock Rolex and if you do, you end up with a Frankenstein watch. There is another school of thought that believes it does not matter what you do to a Rolex as long as you make it look better.

What does Rolex think about customizing Rolex watches? I don't know for certain, but from what I have put together, they frown upon it. Some might argue Rolex should not really care, because the customizer has to pay for a real Rolex.

There is a third school of thought, which has a lot of grey area. It is an option where somebody takes a 100% genuine Rolex watch, and a part or parts from another model and combine them together. A really good example of this would be Xelor's Stainless Steel Rolex Submariner which he modified by putting a bezel and bezel insert from a white gold Rolex Submariner.

An all-new stainless steel Ceramic Rolex Submariner retails for around $8,000 and a White Gold Rolex Submariner retails for around $34,000. Of course, the standard black bezel stainless steel Submariner comes with a black dial, and the white gold Submariner comes with a blue bezel with a matching blue dial.

So Xelor, got the bright idea to somehow purchase the blue bezel from the white gold Submariner and put it on a standard Submariner and in my opinion it looks stunningly great!!! So if you want to obtain a blue bezel insert like Xelor did, how do you do so? I don't know? In the United States, as I understand it, Rolex does not allow you to purchase parts without trading-in the watch part that is being replaced.

I have heard that in Europe it is easier to purchase just parts, but never having done so, I honestly don't know. I just hope Rolex sees how beautiful this combination is, and eventually offers it, because it looks great!!!

Madly In Love with the new White Gold Submariner...

Madly in Love!!!

Eric Ku of 10pastten.com is the top vintage Rolex dealer in the San Francisco, Bay Area–and one really cool guy. At the San Francisco watch GTG Eric showed up with the most mouth dropping collection of vintage Rolex watches.

Imagine how shocked I was to find out that he is madly in love with his new white gold Rolex Submariner. He says he wears it everyday and it is not coming off his wrist!!!

Why is this so shocking!?! Because most vintage Rolex guys are not into the current Rolex watches–just like many people who are into new Rolex watches are not into vintage. Eric said he is amazed with how beautiful in person the new blue ceramic bezel and blue dial are.

Of course the new Supercase, with Maxi markers and fat hands are really cool as is the profoundly well designed and engineered glide-lock clasp. This watch just became available to the public for purchase a month ago.

The White Gold Rolex Submariner Is Now Available...

The all new Rolex Submariner has come to market and here are photos of it:

This all new sub has a Supercase, maxi markers with fat hands and a ceramic blue dial.

It appears as if the crystal is flush with the bezel and no longer sits up proudly above the bezel. This translates into a more finished, streamlined look.

The all new Submariner in white gold as pictured, has a blue dial and blue bezel that is made from ceramic material. The ceramic material makes it extremely sturdy and scratch proof like the synthetic sapphire crystal.

This is the first time in history that Rolex has ever made a white gold Rolex Submariner.

The new Submariner has the glidelock clasp just like the DEEP-SEA SEA DWELLER. This is great news because it appears as if this will be the new standard on all Sport Rolex watches as they are introduced in the future.

The highly innovative new glidelock clasp allows the wearer to adjust the size of the clasp, while the watch is on the wrist and requires no tools. This is also great for authorized dealers because typically when you go to a dealer they keep all their Rolex watches with all the links in them, which means if you try it on you don't really get to see how it will look on your wrist because the bracelet is way too big.

The glidelock allows you to adjust the watch up to 1.5 links in length.

It seems logical that next year or the year after at Basel, Rolex will introduce the all new stainless steel Submariner, and assuming it follows the design language of the white gold Submariner pictured above, it should be an absolute winner!!!

Upcoming Rolex Supercase Submariners...

Here are some superb shots of the Supercase Submariners that Rolex first introduced at Basel 2008 in Switzerland in April.  The new Subs have the Supercase, Maxi Markers, Fat Hands & an amazing new bracelet that allows you to make fine size adjustments while the watch is on your wrist.

The new sub also features polished center links and wider lugs.  The design language of the new Rolex Submariner is very similar to the New GMT II Ceramic...
