First of all, thanks so much Andi for sending in this awesome image of a young Charlie Munger, with his business partner, Warren Buffett when they were much younger, I believe pictured back in 1977! Upon close inspection it appears as if Charlie Munger is rocking a 36MM Rolex Datejust with a plain bezel. I added this image to the my article on Warren Buffett, who is totally fascinating...

HBO Documentaries recently completed the documentary you can watch below, titled "Becoming Warren Buffet." This amazingly insightful documentary shares many intimate details about his life journey and achievements. In the documentary, it states that Warren Buffett has already given away $24.3 Billion worth of Berkshire Hathaway stock, and his remaining shares are worth over $63 Billion. This puts him on a trajectory to hit over $100 Billion in his lifetime.

Warren Buffett is renowned for dispensing fascinating advice. He said, "It takes 20 years to build a reputation, and five minutes to ruin it. If you think about that, you'll do things differently."

Warren Buffett is a big fan of Rolex and has been wearing his Rolex Day-Date for many years. Buffett was once asked what he thought of Rolex as a company and if he would ever be interested in purchasing Rolex. Buffett responded by saying:  "Luxury watchmakers such as Geneva-based Rolex are great companies. They know my phone number, but they haven't called.''
At some point, Warren Buffett actually reached out to Rolex and told them he was interested in purchasing them, and of course, they politely declined and told him they are not for sale since Rolex is owned by the Hans Wilsdorf Trust. This makes sense as Warren Buffett typically purchases and invests in companies whose products he likes and uses...

Warren Buffett is considered by some to be an unusual CEO, as he has always instructed his secretary to try to schedule as few appointments as possible. Instead, Warren Buffett likes to sit in his office and read and think.

Success is a fascinating subject. Chances are, if you are reading this, you are somewhat pre-occupied with success. Rolex in many ways is considered to be 'The International Mark Of Success.'  So a great question, is 'who is the most successful businessman to ever wear a Rolex?' The answer is easy, Sam Walton, founder of Walmart and Sam's Club. Sam Walton is arguably the most successful American Businessman in history. Walmart is the biggest retailer in the world today.

So what makes Sam Walton the most successful businessman in history? When he passed away in 1992, he was the wealthiest man in America. Sam left his fortune to his wife and children, which was split between them. If you add up that collective wealth today, it is far greater than Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, Carlos Slim, or Warren Buffet's collective wealth. In other words, in excess of $100 Billion!!!

Sam Walton not only wore a yellow gold Rolex Day-Date, but also wore a Rolex Submariner, which I have seen in the past.

Sam Walton co-authored a book named Sam Walton: Made In America, which I read many years ago. It is the story of his amazing life achievements.

Ferdinand Piëch was the grandson of Ferdinand Porsche who founded Porsche. Piëch was an engineer and was responsible for creating the Porsche 917 that won Le Mans.

Ferdinand Piëch was also involved in the design of many iconic German cars including the Porsche 911, as well as the Audi Quattro and Volkswagen Phaeton. In the photo below we see Ferdinand Piëch pictured in 1969 on the left with his cousin, Ferdinand Alexander Porsche (middle) and his brother, Hans-Michel Piëch on the right. The three of them are largely responsible for the design of the Porsche 911.

Ferdinand Piëch was a billionaire who developed the Volkswagen Group which acquired other iconic brands like Lamborghini, Bugatti and Bentley. Ferdinand began his automotive career at Porsche but was forced to leave after a restriction said that no member of the Porsche or Piêch families could work in day-to-day operations at Porsche.

Ferdinand Piëch moved on to Audi where he eventually became the CEO. During his tenure at Audi Ferdinand grew Audi into much larger company that would compete successfully with Mercedes and BMW.

More Rockefeller's Rockin' Rolex

In the past, I published a story about David Rockefeller, who wore a yellow gold Rolex Day-Date. It turns out that more Rockefeller's wear Rolex, including David Rockefeller's bother, Winthrop Rockefeller. Winthrop Rockefeller was a famous American politician and philanthropist, who was elected as the first Republican Governor of Arkansas, since Reconstruction. He was one of five grandsons of John D. Rockefeller was an American oil industry magnate and philanthropist.

Winthrop Rockefeller was born on May 1, 1912 and died on February 22, 1973. The photo below was taken at the Winrock Cattle Sale on May 9, 1964, and in the photo we get a clear shot of his Rolex Datejust on a jubilee bracelet. This was not his first Rolex, as I am aware of him wearing a Rolex Oyster Perpetual many years earlier (not pictured).

Winthrop Rockefeller's younger brother, David Rockefeller is pictured below in a 2002 Harry Benson photo wearing his yellow gold Rolex Day-Date. Earlier this year, I wrote a story about David Rockefeller's career achievements and his Rolex. One of the other Rockefeller brothers, Nelson Rockefeller was the Vice President Of The United States under President Gerald Ford, from December 19, 1974 to January 20, 1977.

So I am going to daisychain a little bit now, which is coming for me on Jake's Rolex World. The photo below shows David Rockefeller, wearing his yellow gold Rolex Day-Date, while shaking hands with South African President, Nelson Mandela.

The next photo below, which appears courtesy of Vanity Fair was taken by Annie Leibovitz in David Rockefeller's Upper East Side Townhouse study, shows British Investment Banker, Lord Jacob Rothschild, 4th Baron Rothschild, on the left with David Rockefeller on the right. For some reason, I always get the Roshschild's and Rockefeller's mixed up. These two men represent two of the most influential, wealthy families of the bast couple of hundreds of years. The two families are investment partners in a wealth advisory company. On a side note, the photo below was taken at David Rockefeller's Manhattan townhouse in front of his fireplace, and we see he has an original Gauguin painting above the fireplace, and an original Picasso face sculpture behind him—pretty hardcore, if you think about it...

Jacob Rothschild was born and raised and lives today in England, and The Rockefeller's are an American family.

I also thought I would include some photos of Senator Jay Rockefeller, wearing two different Rolex Submariner models. The first photo below shows Senator Ted Kennedy, hugging Jay Rockefeller, who is wearing a two-tone Rolex Submariner on a matching yellow gold and steel Oyster Bracelet. Many of Ted Kennedy's relatives, including JFK Jr., Caroline, and Ted Kennedy Jr., wear Rolex watches. 

The more recent photo below of Senator Jay Rockefeller shows his wearing an all stainless steel Rolex Submariner. Senator Jay Rockefeller is a great grandson of oil tycoon, John D. Rockefeller and he is the nephew of Winthrop and David Rockefeller.

David Rockefeller, the last surviving grandson of business tycoon and founder of Standard Oil, John. D. Rockefeller, passed away today at a 101 years of age. In the photo below we see David Rockefeller wearing his yellow gold Rolex Day-Date.

I remember watching Charlie Rose interview David Rockefeller back in 2002, and you can enjoy it below. The way David Rockefeller speaks is so old school. He almost sounds like Thurston Howell III, from Gilligan's Island—"Lovey, Darling, ask Gilligan to bring me some hundred dollar bills so I may light my cigar!!!". I remember he referred to his parents, as Mother and Father, which is very formal English...but I like it...

Together they built out the brand to include making Dr. Dre "Beats", over the ear headphones, as well as Beats Music.
