Kermit Meets Kermit Dave's LV Submariner

...Rolex Wrist Shot Of The Day...

Kermit Meets Kermit
Dave's LV Submariner

Dave is a daily reader of Jake's Rolex World from Melbourne, Australia and he sent in this super-cool photos and said:

Dear Jake

David Bladen here down in Melbourne Australia. I know how much you love the sub LV and so do I. In Oz we have many green tree frogs. This one is one of the kids pets. She has taken a liking to my green Rolex. She has good taste. Please feel free to use the photo on your blog which I still look at everyday. Thanks for all your hard work.

Cheers
Dave

I took this wrist shot photo of my LV Submariner years ago when I was in a Hawaiian Jungle. Turns out it was a pretty cool Rolex Hand in Glove Shot...

The Very First LV Rolex Submariner Prototype Reference 16610 LV: Mark 0

The Very First LV Rolex Submariner Prototype
Reference 16610 LV: Mark 0

People ask me what my favorite Rolex of al time is, and my answer is the original LV Submariner. I love the original LV for many different reasons. In particular, I love the Maxi Markers, fat hands and the tri-tone look the green bezel insert offers. The LV is sporty, aquatic, and its design language is pure classic Rolex.

So where did the LV Submariner come from? I will give you a hint. this is the very first photo Rolex ever published of the LV Submariner. It is actually a prototype. How can you tell? Notice the lugs have exposed spring bar holes. Ironically, Rolex NEVER sold this watch with this feature, but it all began with this photo.

50th Anniversary Rolex Submariner

...Rolex Wirst Shot Of The Day...

50th Anniversary Rolex Submariner

I took this photo of my LV Submariner back in June of 2010, and at the time I was wearing it on a woven black Perlon Nylon strap, which is a great look. Something about the green bezel with the black dial, coupled with the black woven strap is really cool, and sporty.

Waikiki Submariner Sunset Sailing

Waikiki Submariner Sunset Sailing

My girlfriend and I were on vacation in Hawaii, and we spent some time surfing on Waikiki beach in Honolulu, which is the home of surfing, and the original Beach Boys. There is something really cool about wearing a Submariner while you are surfing. I remember every once and I while I would look down at my Submariner, and it was just so cool looking...

I took this photo of my favorite Rolex, which is an original LV Submariner, while sailing around Waikiki Beach on Oahu Island in Hawaii as the sun was setting over the Pacific Ocean. I remember when I took this photo, thinking it was really cool how the green on the LV bezel looked similar to the glass buildings in the background.

The 7 Up Submariner

For some reason, I was just talking with my girlfriend on the phone, and I said "Tell me about your childhood?" She asked me what I was talking about? I mentioned I was imitating the 7up commercial dude from the 1970s. Of course that made visit YouTube to find the commercial, and for those of you old enough to remember Geoffrey Holder who was the face of 7up in the 70s and 80s, all I have to say is "7up is the Uncola!!!! Ah, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.!!!!"

BTW Geoffrey Holder played Baron Samedi, the voodoo guru in the James Bond film, Live and Let Die, with Roger Moore playing 007.

Come to think of it, Geoffrey Holder kind of laughs like the Count from Sesame Street!?!? I Googled "Tell me about your childhood" and realized in was also in the opening line to the song "Hyperactive" by Thomas Dolby.

...Comparison Of The Day... 1950s Role Moonphase v. LV Submariner

...Comparison Shot Of The Day...

1950s Rolex Moonphase v. LV Submariner

Last time I was down at Fourtane Jewelers in Carmel, California I had a chance try on a yellow gold Rolex Moonphase [Reference 6062] and I just happened to be wearing my LV Submariner on a JAKEe FATSTRAP.

It is fascinating to note the moonphase was made in the early 1950s–literally a half-century before the Submariner. I hope Rolex has the WISdom to bring back the ultra-timeless, triple-date moonphase–PLEASE!!!!!
