INXS Lead Singer Michael Hutchence

We could live for a thousand years...

...but if I hurt you, I'd make wine from your tears..

INXS

Michael Hutchence

Lead Singer

1960-1997

When I nostalgically think back to the 1980s and 1990s there are few bands that epitomize that time more than INXS which was an Australian band. INXS's often upbeat fleeting rock ballads remain haunting and ephemeral to this day in the strangest of ways...

Michael Hutchence was the lead singer of who reminded me of Jim Morrison from THE DOORS, not only because of their common long wavy hair, or amazing singing style, or great looks, but because they both died young. Michael Hutchence is pictured below on a train posting for the camera and notice he is wearing a Rolex Submariner.

Michael Hutchence is pictured below with Jimmy Barnes who was a songwriter for INXS and notice Barnes is wearing his Rolex Day-Date.

Below we see one of INXS' last live concerts before Michael Hutchence passed away.

Jack Black Goes Off with Sax-A-Boom

Weekend Watching

Jack Black
Goes Off with Sax-A-Boom

Jack Black is one highly charismatic dude, and has been wearing Rolex watches for some time now. Jack is also a singer, and musician and has his own band...

I came across his absolutely fascinating command performance on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon a few years ago, where Jack is sporting his white gold Rolex Submariner with a blue bezel and matching blue dial.

Jack Black is unusually charismatic as is Jimmy Fallon in this fascinatingly bizarre video I can't seem to stop watching over-and-over again...Also, I can't figure out who is more interesting to watch? As Jimmy Fallon's emotional response to Jack Black, along with his dancing is equally interesting...

I first documented Jack Black rocking a Rolex GMT-Master back in 2011 as we see in the photo below with Shirley MacLaine. Over the years, I have noticed Jack Black wearing multiple Rolex watches, including a green on green LV Submariner.

Sir Elton John
Jack Black on Graham Norton

Below is a video that shows different guest appearances Jack Black made on the Graham Norton show in the U.K.

In the first interview I couldn't help but notice Sir Elton John was rocking a yellow gold Rolex Day-Date as we can easily identify from its highly iconic President Bracelet, which is gleaning out from underneath Sir Elton John's jacket cuff... It's so interesting to note Sir Elton John, who has known in his younger days as being extremely flamboyant and extravagant loves wearing different Rolex watch models.

B.B. King: The Greatest Blues Guitarist In History

B.B. King
King Of The Blues

1925-2015

The Greatest Blues Guitarist In History

A King And His President

B.B. King passed away in May of 2015, but he will likely always be remembered as the greatest blues guitarist in history a. B.B. King, commonly referred to as "The King Of The Blues" left behind an amazing career legacy that spanned seven decades.

B.B. King is pictured below with his trademark guitar named Lucille by his side, with his trademark yellow gold Rolex President on his wrist. It's interesting to note B.B. King always wore his Rolex Day-Date in reverse, like the King of race car driving, Richard Petty, who wears his Daytona flipped around.

B.B. King's Rolex Day-Date almost looks like a bracelet from the front and his ring looks like a Rolex President bracelet style ring. Also, Peter who is a reader of Jake's Rolex Watch Blog pointed out (in the comments section) that B.B. King's guitar has two coronets on it that look very similar to the Rolex coronet/crown/logo. This could explain why B.B. King wore his Rolex Day-Date with the coronet where the watch usually goes!!!

B.B. King is posing below in 1949, at age 24 for a photo for his band named The Hooks Brothers.

In this next photo, we see B.B. King with Elvis Presley.

"I remember Elvis as a young man, hanging around Sun Studio. Even then, I knew this kid had a tremendous talent. He was a dynamic young boy. His phraseology, his way of looking at a song, was as unique as Sinatra's. I was a tremendous fan of Elvis, and had he lived, there would have been no limit to his inventiveness." –B.B. King.

In this next photo, we see B.B. King jamming with a young Eric Clapton. B.B. King inspired many generations of musicians with his amazing blues guitar style.

When Love Comes To Town

In these next two videos we see John Mayer going off with B.B. King–both playing some very serious blues guitar!!!

Blues Brothers
Riding With The King

This next photo of the cover of Riding With The King is really cool with Clapton driving The King in an old Cadillac and Clapton is wearing a Rolex Explorer II. Eric Clapton is also a big Rolex collector and you can learn more about him in the Eric Clapton Rolex Story I wrote.

In these next two photos, we also see B. B. King wearing his trademark Yellow Gold Rolex Day-Date.

Below is the video of Riding With The King. What is cooler than Eric Clapton and B.B. King riding around in an old Caddy while they sing, while wearing Rolex watches!?!?

In what had to be a highlight of his career, we see B.B. King below singing "Sweet Home Chicago" with B.B. King, and many other stars.

Rolex Hotness and Coolness: Cher and Gregg Allman...

...Rolex Music Legend...

Gregg Allman

1947-2017

I originally published this story back on May 27, 2017, just after I discovered that Gregg Allman passed away. Cher recently popped into my head, so I thought it would be great to take another look back at this amazing story. Cher got married to Gregg just three days after her divorce from Sonny Bono became final. At the time, in 1975, Cher was 29 years old, and she married Gregg Allman in Las Vegas, who was 27 at the time. In the photo below we see both Cher and Gregg Allman wearing yellow gold Rolex watches. Gregg Allman arguably represented the leading face and voice of Southern Rock.

Cher just Tweeted this about her loss of Gregg Allman:

Both Cher and Gregg Allman have had unbelievable careers that spanned 5 decades. Cher started her career with her first husband, Sonny Bono and later she married Gregg Allman who is a member of the Allman Brothers and has also had a successful solo career.

Cher and Gregg Allman have both worn Rolex watches though their entire careers. In the this first set of photos below, we see Cher wearing her Rolex Lady Date, and Gregg Allman wearing his stainless steel Rolex Submariner.

Photo above of Cher & Gregg Allman Performing together in Frankfurt, Germany in 1977 appears courtesy of Klaus Hiltscher/Affendaddy

The next three photos in this article were taken by Michael Ochs in Los Angeles, California in 1977. They were taken at a party at Rona Barrett's home.

Cher must dig dudes who wear Rolex GMT's because her first husband Sonny Bono and her second husband Gregg Allman both wore them. Even Cher's daughter/Son Chaz wears one.

In this recent photo (below) we see Gregg Allman wearing his stainless steel Rolex Submariner while he performs.

Below is video footage of The Allman Brothers Band live at Fillmore East in 1970, which was the concert that put them on the map.

Below is a video which features Gregg Allman on Late Night with David Letterman, with a special guest, Red Foxx, who joins them, and notice Red Foxx is wearing a yellow gold Rolex Day-Date. Ronand Reagan was still the President Of The United States when this originally aired in 1987.

A number of celebrity friends paid their respect and said goodbye to Gregg Allman on Twitter:

...The Greatest Guitarist Superstar Of The 1970s... Peter Frampton

...The Greatest Superstar Guitarist Of The 1970s...

Peter Frampton

An Amazing Career with Rolex Keeping His Time

Peter Frampton is arguably the greatest Rock Guitar playing Superstar from the 1970s. He is pictured below in a recent photo wearing his trademark stainless steel and platinum Rolex Yacht-Master. Many people today still consider Peter Frampton to be up there in the pantheon of the greatest guitarist, along with Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton.

Peter Frampton's first blockbuster album was titled, "Frampton Comes Alive", was released in 1976, and we see its album artwork below.

In 1977, Peter Frampton released his second mega-hit album titled: "I'm in you", which we see the album artwork from below.

The photo below of Peter Frampton was taken in 1979, and shows him rocking his two-tone Rolex Datejust.

In the photos below from the 1970s, when Peter Frampton was at the height of popularity and fame, we see him wearing his two-tone Rolex Datejust.

The music videos below showcase Peter Frampton's greatest hits from the mid to late 1970s.

Sgt. Pepper's

Lonely Hears Club Band

1978 was a good year for Peter Frampton, and he stared in with the Bee Gees in the remake of the Beatles Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and as we see in the photos below, Peter was sporting his Rolex Datejust.

In 1978, Peter Frampton also played lead guitar of the title song for the movie Grease, which stared John Travolta and Olivia Newton John. Grease was written by Barry Gibb for the movie. While on vacation in the Bahamas Peter Frampton almost died in a car accident. In the photos below we see Peter Frampton in 1980 rockin' his two two-tone Rolex Datejust.

David Bowie
Never Let Me Down

Peter Frampton was old friends with David Bowie and in 1987  he joined David Bowies band and played lead guitar on Bowies song titled Never Let Me Down.

The MTV News Video below is fascinating as it shows David Bowie and Peter Frampton wandering the streets of Barcelona in Spain looking for a Pub to have a pint of beer.

The full length David Bowie concert below is amazing and features Peter Frampton playing lead guitar while he wears his Rolex Datejust.

In the photo below we see Peter Frampton playing with fellow legendary guitar player, B.B. King, who also famously wore a Rolex.

In this next image we see Peter Frampton hanging with fellow British legendary rocker, Ringo Star.

Peter Frampton is pictured below with singer songwriter and fellow rock legend, Billy Joel who appears to be wearing a Rolex Day-Date on his 70th birthday on May 9, 2019.
