Sir David Attenborough is one of the most famous naturalists in history and he just celebrated his 100the anniversary!!! As an amazing explorer, he has always reminded me of Jaques-Yves Cousteau. Sir David Attenborough has been a wildlife filmmaker his entire professional career, which has spanned seven decades. You probably know his famous voice from the recent film series titled "Planet Earth."

In the photo above, Sir David Attenborough is wearing what appears to be either a Rolex Submariner, GMT-Master, Turn-O-Graph, or possibly his Rolex Explorer seen below in this story. It looks bigger, like a Submariner or GMT, but I can't tell for sure. Of course, he is wearing it on a Rolex Oyster bracelet—that much is clear.
Update #1 (March 6, 2019): After spending a lot of time trying to figure out which model Rolex Sir David Attenborough is wearing in the photo above, my best guess is that he is wearing his Rolex Explorer which, due to the angle the photo was taken at, makes it look larger.
Update #2 (Match 7, 2019): My researcher from Hong Kong named Alan discovered and sent in the images below of David Attenborough from 1972, which offer a clue in the sense they were taken straight-on, so we see the scale of the watch better. Once again, my best guess is Sir David is wearing his Rolex Explorer.
An Amazing Voice
David Attenborough's second to most recent documentary series he narrated is named "Blue Planet II," and it is UNBELIEVABLY GREAT!!!! You can check out the trailer below. In the U.S. you can currently watch it on Netflix. Sir David's narrative style is typically very serious, without ever being pretentious which makes him the ultimate wildlife narrator.

Sir David Attenborough recently delivered his message on climate change at a recent United Nations summit as seen in the video below. I have believed for decades that climate change is real, but even if it is not, the measures we can take toward circumventing it can only be good for Mother Earth and humanity. It really would be a sad shame if all the Rolex Perpetuals stop perpetuating time in the future—all because humanity was too stupid or lazy to take real and meaningful action!!!!
A Real Rolex Explorer
The next three images of Sir David Attenborough were taken from a TV series in 1963, and as we see he is wearing an early Rolex Explorer.
I have not been able to make a positive ID on the exact model Rolex Explorer he is wearing in the pictures above, but I believe it has a gilt dial, and likely would be a model like the one shown below.
The images below are from a BBC Video Adventure below from 1963 that showed Sir David Attenborough driving his Land Rover wearing his Rolex Explorer, as he traveled through the Northern Australia outback!!!
In the next set of photos, taken on March 4, 1965, we see Sir David Attenborough wearing his Rolex Explorer on an unusual bracelet. These photos were taken when he was appointed Controller of BBC2.

Alan Arkin passed away today at the age of 89. He was an amazing actor and human being and he wore his vintage Rolex Explorer for over a half-decade, so let's hop in the Rolex Time Machine and reflect on some of his outstanding career achievements as an actor which spanned 7 decades:

I have a confession to make: My absolute favorite way to watch a Movie or TV show is cold. Specifically, I like to watch new content without knowing anything whatsoever about what I am about to watch, and that is what occurred when I began watching The Kominsky Method which stars Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin.
The show just blew my mind, and it is kind of like a combination of Curb Your Enthusiasm and Thelma & Louise. Of course, I could not help but notice Alan Arkin rocks a vintage Rolex Explorer on the show as we seen on his wrist in the photo below. It turns out this is his real watch that he wore in real life.
Alan Arkin costars with Michael Douglas who is amazing in the Kominsky Method. Whenever I think of Michael Douglas I think of his portrayal of Gordon Gekko in Wall Street, but after a few episodes of Kominsky I seemed to have forgotten about that. Both Arkin and Douglas were AMAZING in The Kominsky Method.
Alan Arkin is arguably one of the greatest actors in history. In his amazing career that has spanned 7 decades he has won 2 Academy Awards for Best Actor in The Russians Are Coming [1969] & The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter [1969]. He also won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in Little Miss Sunshine [2007], and Argo [2013].
I remember first watching 'The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter' movie in Film Literature class at George Washington High School in San Francisco in 10th grade, which was a really trippy movie. All I really remember is the character who was like Baby Huey who thew a rock through the bakery window to steal the cake on display as he could not resist it :-0
Spoiler Alert: Alan Arkin didn't reprise his role in Season three which debuted on Netflix back on July 2021, which was a bummer as he was so great in Season One and Two as we see in this trailer for Season 3. I learned he didn't return due to his doctors concern that he might catch Covid:
Th Coffee is for Closers, Always Be Closing (ABC) scene in Glengarry Glen Ross in which Alan Arkin is featured is one of the most famous and iconic moments that feature a Rolex Presidential model.
What's the ultimate resistance test a Rolex Explorer can be put through? Hiking a mountain top? Skiing down its slopes? Repelling? River rafting? How about being strapped to the wrist of a Hollywood stunt double, day after day.
"Stuntman-tested tough." That's Eddie Braun's description of his Rolex Explorer when I interviewed him. Despite his good looks and stunning eloquence, Eddie is the face we never see on movie screens. And though you can win an Oscar for playing a stuntman, you can't win one for being one.
Eddie has doubled for Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Charlie Sheen, Lee Majors, Chuck Norris, to name a few, in a prolific career spanning four decades. You know you're tough when Chuck Norris calls you to be his stunt double.
"My Explorer has been totally covered in blood at times. But clean it off and she is good to go," Eddie told me. He wears the watch "pretty much every single day." It's true: I've reviewed B-rolls of Eddie's stunts, and it's not unusual to catch a glimpse of that stainless steel Oyster bracelet as he gets pulled from a crash.
Eddie recently turned 60 but looks 10 years younger. It's probably because he hangs around Hollywood stars all day.
His seemingly endless list of action credits range from 1980 television classics like The Dukes of Hazzard; The Fall Guy; Magnum, P.I.; Walker, Texas Ranger to big-production films including Transformers, The Avengers, The Green Hornet, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Moneyball, to name a few. In 2002 Eddie was nominated for a Taurus World Stunt Award for best stunt coordination for the film Rush Hour 2.

So, is Eddie Braun a one-watch guy? "I own several other watches, like Pateks and such," Eddie told me. "But I almost never wear them. I always wear my trusty workhorse Rolly." Then he added: "To say I love this watch is an understatement."
One of the most famous stuntmen in Hollywood loves wearing an Explorer. Can there be higher praises for the product?
Below, Eddie's actual Rolex Explorer. I made the small edit because I love that Eddie doesn't baby his watch. That makes it more of a family heirloom in my opinion.
Eddie remains long friends with the actors he has doubled for. After all, he has literally taken the fall for them.
Eddie showed me the caseback of his vintage Rolex Explorer. The timepiece was gifted to him by Charlie Sheen after Eddie did a dangerous stunt sequence – twice – from the 21st floor while doubling on the actor’s thriller “Shadow Conspiracy.” Engraved on the back: “Eddie, You da man. Love and Peace, Charlie.”
Most recently, Eddie has worked as a stuntman for the Magnum P.I. reboot. Eric Norris, son of Chuck Norris, is the stunt coordinator for the TV series that will start shooting its fifth season this fall.
Rocket Man
In 2016 Eddie became the only man to ever jump across Idaho’s Snake River Canyon in a rocket, a stunt that his childhood idol, Evel Knievel, attempted but failed in 1974 when he crashed into the river after his parachute deployed too early. Soaring 3,000 feet into the air at about 450 miles per hour, a Rolex Explorer on his wrist, there was a 50-50 chance that Eddie would not survive.
Slash, the famous guitarist from "Guns N Roses," made a special rendition of "Rocket Man" for Eddie for the occasion.
Eddie has four kids, including one son who is the oldest. "It was my one request had I been blown to bits in the rocket," Eddie told me. "I asked the rescue team to look for the watch for my son regardless of what shape my body was in."
A Disney Plus original documentary produced by Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia follows Eddie and his team as he prepares for that stunt, widely considered the most dangerous stunt in cinematic history.
Spoiler alert: My interview took place after the jump, so you can guess the outcome. Still, the one-hour-and-twenty-seven-minute documentary is superbly made and not without an edge-of-your-seat build-up as we are taken on a stuntman's journey, a Rolex Explorer firmly strapped on the wrist.
