2011 JAKEe Convertible Camaro Prototype

2011 JAKEe Convertible Camaro Prototype

Hi Everybody!!!

As some of you know, when I was in high-school, I wanted to go onto become an automotive engineer, but I could not get myself to do it, because at the time, and we are talking mid 1980s, American auto design was at an all-time low.

This was a very big disappointment to me, and I have never liked or desired to own an American car in my life. That is until I first saw an early prototype of the all-new Chevy Camaro Concept Convertible.

I went and test drove the 2010 hardtop (not pictured) Chevy SS V-8 Camaro, and it completely blew my mind!!! Not only was it like driving a rocket-ship, but it also handled like a dream. The all new Camaro SS V8 muscle car does 0-60 MPH in only 4.5 Seconds, which is just perfect if you ask me.

Like many other Camaro enthusiasts, I have been patiently awaiting the announcement of the all-new Chevy Camaro convertible and it seems like it has been an eternity. I first saw spy photos of it several years ago, and just two days ago, on the Camaro5.com forum, they showed off these four spy shots of the car being tested. Well kind of.

The challenge was the photos they showed were of a red Camaro, and I want a dark Cobalt blue, with a touch of purple (if you are old enough, think Duncan Yo-Yo). I also want the white racing stripes I designed, and I also want to powder-coat the brake calipers in red. I also think it would be cool to put the JAKEe logo on the hood.

Since I am an advanced graphic artist, I decided to use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to custom paint the car. I did this because I was extremely curious to see what my next actual car is going to look like. According to Camaro5.com Chevy will start producing convertible Camaro's in January or March of 2011 and I can't wait!!!!

I think the all-new Camaro convertible is the best looking car I have ever seen, and as an American, I very happy to see American cars making a strong comeback.

I included the following video that shows how General Motors is going to have an iPhone application that allows you to use your phone as a key!!! This is so cool!!!

Rolex Super-Coolness: Jon Hamm MAD MEN Rolex

Rolex Super-Coolness: Jon Hamm
MAD MEN Rolex Explorer

John Hamm plays Donald Draper on the TV mega-hit, MAD MEN, and in the season premier for this 4th season, which aired yesterday, I noticed for the first time he was wearing a Rolex Explorer!!! If you are not familiar with MAD MEN, it is produced by one of the producers from the Sopranos.

Joh Hamm is an amazing actor, and on MAD MEN, which is set in the early 1960s in New York, on Madison Avenue, he plays an ad executive. If you have never seen MAD MEN, I very highly recommend it. I turned Leo onto MAD MEN last year and he freaked out and watched all 3 seasons–on DVD–back to back to back!!!!

In a bizarre twist of fate, Jon Hamm is currently staring in a movie where he plays my namesake grandfather, Jake Ehrlich Sr. You can learn more about this film and John Hamm playing my grandfather Jake, in the movie Howl.

There have been other actors on past seasons of MAD MEN who wore Rolex, but never the star, Jon Hamm. He is wearing a stainless steel Rolex Explorer in the photo above and below.

In the photo below from the Season 4 opener of MAD MEN, we can definitely make out the Rolex Oyster bracelet. It is also interesting to note that I remember one of the main characters last season talking about how they wanted to get Rolex as an account for their advertising agency.

In this next photo we get a clearer shot of the Rolex Explorer on Donald Draper's wrist.

In the photo below, we see the watch in the photo above, zoomed-in significantly and we can make a positive I.D., and confirm it is a Rolex Explorer since we can make out the 3, 6, and 9 Arabic markers on the dial.

Studio Shot Of The Day
AAKViper's Rolex Milgauss

This is a really profound image because we see second generation Rolex Milgauss watches side be side with a black and a silvered dial. This would kind of be like putting together a modern white dial and black dial Daytona.

I have such fond memories from my childhood of all the magical Disney characters including Donald Duck with his three nephews, Huey, Duey and Louie, so these magnificent Carl Barks Disney paintings from 1974 that are up for auction from Heritage Auctions in August turn the nostalgia volume way up in my mind.

Since these oil paintings were completed in 1974, it is kind of interesting (T.Walker Lloydism) to realize they kind of have a black light poster color palette ;-))))

I remember back in the mid 1980s how over-the-top cool the Porsche 928 was. It is interesting that we don't see many on the road these days?
