Jack Nicklaus 1967 Rolex President Day-Date...
Jack Nicklaus in a recent photo sporting his yellow gold Rolex Day-Date. Personally, I think yellow gold Rolex watches look really cool on men and women with blond hair, like Jack Nicklaus. Jack Nicklaus won The Open in 1966, 1970 and 1978.
The photo below shows Jack Nicklaus in 1978 after winning The Open, and he is wearing his Rolex Day-Date.
Jack has been wearing a Rolex Day-Date since 1967, so this year marks the 50th year he has worn Rolex. The photo below of Jack Nicklaus wearing a Rolex Day-Date was taken in 1968, when he was 28 years old. It is the oldest known photo of him wearing a Rolex that I have been able to find. Ironically, prior to wearing his yellow gold Rolex Day-Date for 50 years straight, he never wore a watch.

Apple CEO, Tim Cook took the stage today, an the special Apple Event and announced the new generation of Apple Watch which now has Cellular LTE built in. This means an Apple Watch will be able to make and take phone calls, as well as access data over cellular networks. According to Tim Cook last quarter, Apple watch surpassed Rolex to become the Number 1 watch in the world, as we see in the photos below.
I'm not certain what metric Tim was referring to, whether it was Sales Volume or Quantity of watches sold? This is an interesting claim as Rolex is a privately held company that does not publish its sales volume or sales. I would guess they are making this claim based upon the number of watches shipped, not in dollars, but I might be wrong.
Apple put together the video below that showcases how "Every Apple Watch Tells A Story". I appreciate the Apple watch, but I stopped wearing one a while ago. Why? In the final analysis, the Apple watch was kind of a pain, as I had to always update it, and deal with having to charge it every day. Don't get me wrong, I think there are many, many innovative design characteristic of the Apple Watch, but lately, I have been loving the simplicity of my Single Red SEA-DWELLER, which keeps great time.

If you are a reader of Jake's Rolex World, you probably are aware of my coverage of the mystery of what happened to Amelia Earhart.

The newly discovered ONI photo below from the United States National Archives showed a female who looks a lot like Amelia Earhart, as well as a man who looks like her navigator, Fred Noonan.
If you look closely on the far right side of the photo pictured below, you can see an airplane being towed in the water behind the Japanese towing barge named "Koshu". The airplane when measured to scale is approximately 38 feet long, which is the exact length of Amelia Earhart's airplane.
So why are you reading and learning about this news on Jake's Rolex World, and not in the mainstream press which rushed to judgment to discredit the smoking gun photo that shows Earhart and Noonan on the dock after she crash landed in the Marshall Islands? I can't explain why the mainstream press attacked the History Channel documentary evidence and so strongly attempted to discredit it, and then when all this REAL NEWS comes forward, they ignore it? I plan to keep researching this subject, and if in the future I have have more to add I will share it with you. In the meantime, I believe the History Channel got it right and I am 99.95% certain the photo is of Earhart. For the record, I am not a conspiracy theorist. I am a historian seeking the truth, the whole truth, and noting but the truth.
My coverage began with a documentary that aired on The History Channel, that put forth new evidence that suggested that Amelia Earhart survived a crash landing, along with her navigator Fred Noonan. The documentary put forth the ONI (Office Of Naval Intelligence) image below that was discovered in the National Archives, that claimed Amelia Earhart, Fred Noonan and their airplane can be seen int the photo below on a dock in Jaluit Island, in the Marshall Islands in 1937.
The documentary put forth the notion, that Amelia Earhart crash landed, and was captured by the Japanese and placed in a prison on Saipan, where she later died in captivity. I covered the documentary and wrote a detailed review, in which I went into detail on how I thought the photo was correct, and provided the smoking gun evidence.
Two days later, all hell broke loose when National Geographic published an article titled, "Amelia Earhart 'Lost Photograph' Discredited. My whole life I have been a huge fan of National Geographic, but I thought Nat Geo's conclusion was premature and journalistically inaccurate and irresponsible. I was shocked at how a Kangaroo Court was so quickly setup, which instantly judged the photographic evidence as being discredited, as they said it was taken in 1935, so it could not be Amelia Earhart. This is deeply profound as National Geographic is the ultimate photo-centric publication, so it is ironic, how they rushed to judgement about a photos accuracy without really doing any deep research on the photo.
The crazy thing was the sheer volume of bloggers and online publications that supported this conclusion. I just didn't buy it, so I kept digging deeper.

On July 13th I wrote another article with an exclusive evidence from a Senior Archivist at The National Archives. In this article I basically, said I believe the 'Smoking Gun' photo to be real, and I specially pointed out that something was off about Nat Geo's super-quick rush to judgement. Well it turns out, I was not the only research historian that thought there was something really off about the investigational results.
Let's fast-forward to July 15, 2017. The Republic Of The Marshall Islands, Ministry Of Foreign Affairs published a press release as seen below. This press release strongly and accurately refutes National Geographic finding, and I have to say I agree. 100%
It turns out, another blogger, named Rich Martini, who is a huge Amelia Earhart expert, debunked the debunkers. Rich Martini publishes a blog named, "Earhart On Saipan", and he is an accomplished documentarian. Below is a preview of interviews Martini conducted with historical witnesses surrounding the Amelia Earhart mystery. Basically, the way Marini discredited the Nat Geo finding, is by proving the smoking gun photo from the Japanese 'book', was NOT a copyrighted or properly dated book. Instead the evidence hinged upon a portfolio of photos that was tied together by a piece of string, that had a stamp on the page that supposedly said:"1935".

Back in 2015 I covered the Mayweather v. Pacquiao fight, which was fascinating! The boxing world is about to witness one of the most interesting and seemingly impossible matches in history! When I was a kid, I used to wonder if Muhammad Ali fought Bruce Lee, who would win? But back then, boxing was boxing and Karate was not. But now worlds are colliding, and we have a new genre of fighting, which is upon us and known as 'Combat Sports'.
Having the top MMA fighter go up agains the top boxer reminds me of the 1972 Reese's Peanut Butter Cups Commercial from my childhood, which exclaimed, "Hey, you got chocolate in my peanut butter!?!!"
Tonight the world is about to see the five division boxing champion (WBC, WBO, WBA & Ring Welterweight Champion) Floyd Mayweather Jr, in a boxing match against Conor McGregor, who is the current UFC Lightweight Champion, and former UFC Featherweight Champion, who began his career as a MMA (Mixed Martial Arts), and a featherweight, lightweight, and welterweight.
So how did this all come about? It all began on Conan O'brien's show back in 2015, when Conan asked Conor McGregor "What if you were in the ring with Floyd Mayweather, what do you think would happen?" Watch the video below to learn about Conor's answer...
One thing Floyd Mayweather Jr., and Conor McGregor have in common is they both wear and have HUGE Rolex collections. This fight could almost be named, "Rolex v. Rolex."

My good friend and fellow historian, Jose from Perezcope just published an amazing new article named, "ALL SINGLE RED SEA-DWELLERS, SIDE BY SIDE", which is exactly that, a detailed comparison of every known Single Red SEA-DWELLER. Jose and I have been talking about this article for some time now, and to finally see it and read it, is AWESOME!!! Below is a graphic from Jose's article, that shows the 11 known examples of Single Red SEA-DWELLER models, along with Philippe-Pierre Cousteau's Double Red SEA-DWELLER which likely began its life as a Single Red, but received a replacement dial from Rolex. These 11-12 models are so rare, today they are probably worth around $750,000 each. Are there undocumented Single Red prototypes out there? Probably, and you can bet that if and when they surface, Jose will add them to his growing database.

Jose and I worked together extensively on his most recent poster titled, "History Of The Rolex SEA-DWELLER: Rolex's Conquest Of The Ocean", which can be seen below in its finished form. Just to be clear, I contributed all of my knowledge, and a great teal of feedback on the layout details, but Jose did 100% of the graphics on the poster, so I really played a small role compared to Jose.
In working with Jose, I have learned so much from him. Jose is basically what I call a "Horological Forensics Expert", and I remember the first time he told me "Data never lies". As a matter of fact, the reason Jose began making detailed timelines, was not because he wanted to make the most awesome Rolex and Panerai poster, but because he wanted to plot all of the data he had collected on these watches. Some of his findings in his article are really deep and insightful.

On a side note, I have been keeping a diary of observations on the all-new 2017 Single Red SEA-DWELLER, which is an homage of sorts to the original Single Red SEA-DWELLER. I say 'homage of sorts', as Rolex is quick to point out the all-new model is not an homage, per se, but a modern interpretation of the SEA-DWELLER which has a historical nod to The 50th Anniversary of the Rolex SEA-DWELLER.
