Trump Seeks Balanced Trade 

Switzerland and the United States announced a new framework trade agreement on Friday that includes Washington slashing its tariffs on imported Swiss products from 39% down to 15%. Also, Swiss companies pledged to invest $200 Billion by the end of 2028 in the United States. The Trump White House published a fact sheet that cites promoting reciprocal trade, and it is filled with fascinating details. Looks like President Trump is a real Rolex fan after all, which makes sense as he is a true Rolex President.

A decade ago a documentary named Steve McQueen and Le Mans released its first trailer, which can be seen below. This fascinating documentary covers his experience with filming his 1971 movie titled Le Mans.

STEVE MCQUEEN: THE MAN and LE MANS

Is the story of obsession, betrayal and ultimate vindication. It is the story of how one of the most volatile, charismatic stars of his generation, who seemingly lost so much he held dear in the pursuit of his dream, nevertheless followed it to the end.

STEVE MCQUEEN: THE MAN and LE MANS debuted earlier this year at the Cannes Film Festival in France. A limited theatrical release will debut in Los Angeles and New York tomorrow on November 13th, 2015. A DVD of the documentary will be released on December 1st, 2015.

The poster below is the original 1971 movie poster for Le Mans, starring Steve McQueen. So basically the documentary above is about the making of the 1971 movie.

If you get a change to watch the movie Le Mans be sure to check out the scene at 3:09 seconds into the film where you can see Steve McQueen driving his 911 in the city of Le Mans, France, and you can also see him wearing his Submariner. Below we see the Le Mans Race scene from the movie which is pretty RAD!!!!

Below are previously unpublished images of Steve McQueen at Le Mans in 1971. In this first photo we get a clear shot of Steve McQueen wearing his Rolex Submariner.

In the photo below we see Steve McQueen leaning against a Ferrari 512S, while taking photos with his Nikon F SLR camera with a big lens, and of course, he is wearing his Rolex Submariner.

In the photo above and below we see Steve McQueen's 1969 Porsche 917K (Chassis Number 024) swathed in Powder Blue and Marigold Orange. This rare Porsche 917 featured an air-cooled 12 cylinder 560HP mid-engine. It disappeared after the movie was made, only to come back to life in a barn-find. This amazing car will likely be auctioned, and it could easily go for over $20,000,000.

In the photo below we see Steve McQueen in front of his 911S, while filming Le Mans, and notice his Submariner, along his Persol sunglasses, with this tie-dyed shirt. Groovy Baby, Yeah!!!!

The photo below looks like a Rolex magazine ad, but I made it myself since I thought it looks really cool. Methinks if Rolex made ads like this, they would be much more inspirational than boring photos of just watches.

Perfectly Timeless Classics

Ironically, everything considered classic today was once considered to be modern. Few things have stood the test of time like Steve McQueen, a Porsche 911, and a stainless steel Rolex Submariner. The Porsche 911 ad below shows the same model Steve McQueen drove in the opening scene for Le Mans.

Over the past week I have been covering a lot of President Trump Rolex news, beginning with the CEO of Rolex, Jean-Frédéric Dufour visiting the Oval Office, and then I wrote a very detailed story on how Rolex gifted the American people a Rolex desk top that in on President Trump's desk in the Oval Office. President Trump commented recently on how Rolex had been nice to him, and on how he is working on a something with Switzerland, as he shared a smile and laugh as we seen in the video below:

Below we see a photo that shows the Rolex clock on President Trump's desk, and it appears to have an engraving that says "President of The United States, Donald J. Trump."

Front and Center On Resolute Desk 

It looks like we have yet another Rolex President history chapter unfolding in front of us. Last week, we saw Rolex CEO, Jean-Frédéric Dufour in the Oval Office with President Trump, and Nick Gould as as well as some eagle-eyed readers of Jake's Rolex World pointed me to how Watches of Espionage reported that President Trump has a new Rolex desk clock on his desk in the Oval Office.

The image below was taken in the Oval Office over the weekend and shows Senator Mullin from Oklahoma handing President Trump a document and we see the Rolex desk clock and can see it has a Rolex green dial. Special thanks to Nick Gould for finding this image.

Below we see Watches of Espionage's original Instagram post that shows the Rolex Desk Clock on President Trump's desk.

Below we see non image of President Trump's desk in the Oval Office as he is meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister, Viktor Orbán, and we see the Rolex front and center on the Resolute Desk.

The image below of a Rolex Desk Clock appears courtesy of Christie's Auction House and shows a Rolex Reference 8235 Desk clock, which I believe is very similar to the one on President Trump's desktop, but Trump's obviously has a Rolex green dial.

Rolex has been making Rolex Desk top for many decades, and pictured below we see an example of a 1985 Rolex Reference 455 Rolex Desk clock in an image that appears courtesy of Sotheby's Auction House.

Nick Gould noticed the back of Rolex desk clock on President Trump's desk has an engraving on the back as seen in the two images below:

The image below was discovered on Instagram by @Beheightfour and shows what appears to be a Rolex executive awarding somebody a Rolex desk clock very similar to the model gifted to the American people by Rolex:

Update, November 10 @3PM: Hodinkee's Andy Hoffman confirmed that the Rolex desk clock was a 'spirit of friendship' gift to the American people from Rolex:

"Hodinkee is able to confirm that the clock was given to the U.S. and the President by Rolex as part of a White House visit by a group of Swiss business executives. According to a letter signed by Rolex Chief Executive Officer Jean-Frédéric Dufour, the table clock was presented for the benefit of the people of the United States as one of several “symbolic gestures of appreciation reflecting the spirit of friendship and enduring ties between the two nations,” according to the letter. The table clock was described as a gift to the people of the United States and as “a modest, refined expression of traditional Swiss watchmaking.“

It's kind of fitting when you think about it that the Rolex desk clock is a Datejust, as the original and first Rolex 'President' watch model was a Datejust. It's also fascinating when you explore to understand that the Rolex DAY-DATE really is a Datejust variant, with the day of the week wheel added to it.
