As some of you know, when I was in high-school, I wanted to go onto become an automotive engineer, but I could not get myself to do it, because at the time, and we are talking mid 1980s, American auto design was at an all-time low.
This was a very big disappointment to me, and I have never liked or desired to own an American car in my life. That is until I first saw an early prototype of the all-new Chevy Camaro Concept Convertible.
I went and test drove the 2010 hardtop (not pictured) Chevy SS V-8 Camaro, and it completely blew my mind!!! Not only was it like driving a rocket-ship, but it also handled like a dream. The all new Camaro SS V8 muscle car does 0-60 MPH in only 4.5 Seconds, which is just perfect if you ask me.
The challenge was the photos they showed were of a red Camaro, and I want a dark Cobalt blue, with a touch of purple (if you are old enough, think Duncan Yo-Yo). I also want the white racing stripes I designed, and I also want to powder-coat the brake calipers in red. I also think it would be cool to put the JAKEe logo on the hood.
Since I am an advanced graphic artist, I decided to use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to custom paint the car. I did this because I was extremely curious to see what my next actual car is going to look like. According to Camaro5.com Chevy will start producing convertible Camaro's in January or March of 2011 and I can't wait!!!!
I think the all-new Camaro convertible is the best looking car I have ever seen, and as an American, I very happy to see American cars making a strong comeback.
I included the following video that shows how General Motors is going to have an iPhone application that allows you to use your phone as a key!!! This is so cool!!!
This beautiful and ultra-rare 1804 Proof coin is one of only 3 known examples and it will be on display at the World's Money Fair in Boston from August 10-14, 2010. Vintage coins are just like vintage Rolex watches. They are full of wonder and often magnificent!!!
John Hamm plays Donald Draper on the TV mega-hit, MAD MEN, and in the season premier for this 4th season, which aired yesterday, I noticed for the first time he was wearing a Rolex Explorer!!! If you are not familiar with MAD MEN, it is produced by one of the producers from the Sopranos.
Joh Hamm is an amazing actor, and on MAD MEN, which is set in the early 1960s in New York, on Madison Avenue, he plays an ad executive. If you have never seen MAD MEN, I very highly recommend it. I turned Leo onto MAD MEN last year and he freaked out and watched all 3 seasons–on DVD–back to back to back!!!!
There have been other actors on past seasons of MAD MEN who wore Rolex, but never the star, Jon Hamm. He is wearing a stainless steel Rolex Explorer in the photo above and below.
In the photo below from the Season 4 opener of MAD MEN, we can definitely make out the Rolex Oyster bracelet. It is also interesting to note that I remember one of the main characters last season talking about how they wanted to get Rolex as an account for their advertising agency.
In this next photo we get a clearer shot of the Rolex Explorer on Donald Draper's wrist.
In the photo below, we see the watch in the photo above, zoomed-in significantly and we can make a positive I.D., and confirm it is a Rolex Explorer since we can make out the 3, 6, and 9 Arabic markers on the dial.
This is a really profound image because we see second generation Rolex Milgauss watches side be side with a black and a silvered dial. This would kind of be like putting together a modern white dial and black dial Daytona.
I have such fond memories from my childhood of all the magical Disney characters including Donald Duck with his three nephews, Huey, Duey and Louie, so these magnificent Carl Barks Disney paintings from 1974 that are up for auction from Heritage Auctions in August turn the nostalgia volume way up in my mind.
Since these oil paintings were completed in 1974, it is kind of interesting (T.Walker Lloydism) to realize they kind of have a black light poster color palette ;-))))
A stunning white gold and diamond sapphire Crown Collection Masterpiece PearlMaster.
This spectacle of opulence is accented with 40 brilliant baguette sky blue sapphires in its bezel. The Mother of Pearl dial, is also set with 10 sapphire markers. Another, "Girls Best Friend!"
The 20 Stage, or the 97th running of the 2010 Tour de France cycling race just passed the half-way point. The race began with 198 cyclists comprising 22 teams of 9. It began in Rotterdam and will end 2,263 miles (3,642 kilometers) later in Paris on the Champs-Elysees on July 25.
This first stunning group image was taken by Bryn Lennon of Getty Images and shows the 2010 Tour de France getting underway on July 6, 2010.
This next amazing image was taken by Bas Czerwinski from AP Photo on July 14, 2010 and it shows the racers as they jam toward Gap, France.
The image below is of Lance Armstrong on July 3, 2010 as he completes the 8.9km individual time trial run around Rotterdam and was taken by Pascal Pavani of AFP-Getty Images.
This next image of Lance Armstrong shows Lance Armstrong on July 6, 2010 with dirt all over his face as he races on the third stage of the Tour de France. The image was taken by Joel Saget of Reuters.
As many readers of Jake's Rolex World know, Lance Armstrong is a big Rolex collector with his favorites being his white dial stainless Rolex Daytona and his Pepsi GMT-Master. In the future we will be publishing a very detailed article on Lance Armstrong's Rolex collection.

Here is a set of photos from the current movie named Knight & Day starring Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz. In the movie, Cameron is wearing a stainless steel Rolex Submariner.
The last president of the United states that wore a Rolex President (Day-Date Model) was President Lyndon Johnsonas seen in the photo below pictured with Supreme Court Justice, Thurgood Marshall.
In this next photo (below) we see President Obama meeting with U.S. General, David Petraeus who is head of the U.S. Central Command, in the White House on June 23, 2010.
General Petraeus is wearing his trademark stainless steel Rolex Submariner in the photo above and below.
In this next set of photos we see President Obama meeting in the Oval Office with Bono from U2 who is an anti-poverty activist.
Bono is a fascinating man and very quick-witted. He is an admirer of President Obama, and I remember once I heard Bono say that Obama had once been spelled with an apostrophe "O'bama" as if to suggest Obama was an Irish name.
Some things get better with age including Rolex watches and Jennifer Aniston. Jennifer Aniston is wearing her black PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) Rolex Milgauss in the photos below.
Historically Rolex has always been extremely secretive and discreet, and no journalists in the past have ever been invited "INSIDE ROLEX" to explore and report on all four Rolex Manufacturing faclities in Switzerland.
In November 2013, this changed when Rolex invited Jake to take an unprecdented journey into the heart of Rolex to learn and report on everything he witnessed and learned.
This Super-Detailed 3 Part Story is a "MUST READ" story for anybody who wants to understand what really makes Rolex tick.
