Alec Baldwin: Glengarry Glen Ross-Yellow Gold Rolex Day-Date

Alec Baldwin

Glengarry Glen Ross
1992

Yellow Gold Rolex Day-Date

Alec Baldwin is one of the most successful and accomplished actors of his generation, and he was married to Kim Basinger, back in the day. He has starred in all kinds of highly iconic movies including Beetlejuice, The Hunt for Red October, The Marrying Man, The Shadow, The Aviator, The Departed and The Cooler, for which he won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor nomination.

One of the most iconic Rolex related moments in film history is from Alec Baldwin's command performance in the beginning of Glengarry Glen Ross in the early 1990s, where he gives his Always Be Closing (ABC) speech. I saw this movie 22 years ago, back in 1992 and have not seen it since, but remember how powerful his performance was, and he uses his Rolex Day-Date as a powerful tool to communicate his strong perception of success.

This scene is up there with Michael Douglas' "Greed Is Good" speech from Wall Street, and it is similar to Leonardo DiCaprio's speech in The Wolf of Wall Street which is in theaters now.

Warning NSFW: Alec Baldwin plays a hardcore Alpha male in this performance and the video below contains a lot of powerful language and gratuitous profanity.

The photo below shows Alec Baldwin in a recent photo, two decades later, wearing a Rolex.

Two-Tone Rolex Datejust

I remember seeing Glengarry Glen Ross, back when it debuted in theaters, and I have not seen it since, so I thought I would check it out, and it was a really intense movie. I also noticed Al Pacino was wearing a two-tone Rolex Datejust.

In the image below from Glengarry Glen Ross, we see Al Pacino sitting next to actor Jack Lemmon, who was amazing in the movie. Jack Lemmon is one of the great actors in history, as is Al Pacino.

Actually not that I think about it, Glengarry Glen Ross had an amazing all star cast, many of which are Academy Award winning actors, including Kevin Spacey, Jonathan Pryce, Alan Arkin, Jude Ciccolella, and Ed Harris. Speaking of Kevin Spacey, I have not seen it yet, but everybody keeps telling me he has a great show on House Of Card, which is exclusively on Netflix.

Great 2014 Cadillac ELR Coupe Commercial

I love this new Cadillac ELR commercial featuring actor Neal McDonough, which previewed at the opening of the 2014 Winter Olympics. The dude is so cocky/confident/funny, and he is wearing his Rolex Submariner in the Cadillac commercial. I recently posted this on Jake's Car World.

1942 Swiss Rolex Poster

1942 Swiss Rolex Poster
Beyer, Zürich, Switzerland

The poster below was printed in Switzerland between 1942 and 1945, and this particular poster was published by Beyer, which was the only Rolex Authorized Dealer in Zürich, Switzerland at the time. Beyer is still in business today, and they have been in business for over 250 years, making them one of the oldest jewelry storers in the world!

The poster text is in German since Zürich's  primary language is German. Rolex is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, where the primary language is French.

William 'Bunny Rugs' Clarke

...Rolex Reggae Coolness...

William 'Bunny Rugs' Clarke
Belongs To The Ages
1948-2014

William 'Bunny Rugs' Clarke died this week at only age 65. William was a famous Reggae singer who was in the famous Reggae band named 'Third World'. William was also a big fan of Rolex and wore a Submariner and a Datejust.

Third World performed up until recently and had many hits. My favorite Third World song is 'Now That We Found Love', and in the video below we see Third World performing it live back in 1978. Talk about a timeless song. It is hard to believe this was recorded 36 years ago, and William 'Bunny Rugs' Clarke is singing the lead on this great song...

COMEDIANS IN CARS GETTING COFFEE
Weekend Special

Alright, its time to have some fun, and laugh ;-) Pablo Picasso said, "A day without laughter is a wasted day", and it is so true. Today we have the opportunity to be seriously entertained by four of the world's top comedic minds, including Jerry Seinfeld, Louis C.K., Chris Rock and Tina Fey, and we will get to hear them share an interesting insight about Rolex.

The Mysterious Origins of the Louis C.K. Rolex Submariner

How Chris Rock Gave Louis C.K. his Trademark Rolex Submariner

Louis C.K. is one of the top comedians today, and he always wears his trademark Rolex Submariner, and on Jake's Car World, I just discovered where it came from. As a matter of fact, it was a gift from fellow comedian, Chris Rock.

COMEDIANS IN CARS GETTING COFFEE

In this first video from Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee, we see Jerry Seinfeld interviewing fellow comedian Louis C.K., and notice that Louis is wearing his trademark Rolex Submariner.

In this next video below, we see Jerry Seinfeld interview Tina Fey, and at the very end of the video, after the last commercial, they reveal how Louis C.K. got his trademark Rolex Submariner from Chris Rock.

Speaking of Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld interviews Chris Rock in this next episode of Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee. To see many more Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee, be sure to visit Jake's Car World.
