The Miami Open is starting this week and tennis pro Garbiñe Muguruza is rocking a very Miami watch, the Oyster Perpetual in coral red.
"The word 'perpetual' describes something solid, something that is going to last a long time, that is always a part of history, that will never be out of fashion," said Garbiñe Muguruza.
Muguruza is the 28-year-old, six-foot-tall Spanish player who has had a career-high ranking of world No. 1 in singles. One of the rare players to have beaten both Williams sisters.
She won last year the WTA Finals to claim her 10th WTA title. The tournament—considered the most prestigious after the four Grand Slam events—pits eight of the highest ranked singles players and doubles combinations. Rolex Testimonee and tennis legend Chris Evert is among the winners of an event first staged in 1972.
The Miami Open has recently moved from Key Biscayne, Fla. It has been held in Miami Gardens since 2019 and is part of the Mens ATP Tour and WTA 1000 circuit.
Garbiñe will be playing the first round of the Miami Open this Friday. Garbiñe is a true Rolex fan and doesn't just wear an OP; she loves varying her wrist game with a Daytona, GMT-Master, Submariner and Datejust. Since she was a child, both her mom and dad have worn Rolex.
Above, she wears the 31mm Oyster Perpetual in Coral Red.
But deep down, Garbiñe is also a Daytona girl, on or off the court. And she is often spotted wearing red. La dama de rojo. The lady in red.
More recently, her new favorite watch is the Rolex GMT-Master II with a "Pepsi" bezel and white meteorite dial. She's worn it with casual clothes or a business suit.

Roger Federer Celebrates 100th Career Title
Roger Federer's amazing milestone is only surpassed by fellow Tennis legend Jimmy Connors who won 109 singles titles in his career.

Also, in women's tennis, Martina Navratilova won 167 singles titles in the Open Era which began in 1968. Also, Chris Evert won 154 singles titles, and Steffi Graf is at 107.
Roger's 100 titles break down as follows: Roger has won 69 hard-court titles, which is the highest number in the Open Era. He won 20 Grand Slam titles which is the highest number in history to be won by a male. Roger also won 18 grass-court titles, which is also the greatest to be won by a male in the Open Era.

The three greatest games are tennis, golf, and chess, and this is a great story about tennis and golf. Rolex has been a supporter of Tennis for many decades as well as being the Official Timekeeper for Wimbledon. Rolex and the U.S. Open recently announced Rolex has become the tournaments Official Timekeeper and Official Timepiece immediately and will debut with preparations for the upcoming 2018 US Open which will run from August 27, 2018, to September 9, 2018. Citizen was the previous official timekeeper of the U.S. Open for more than a quarter century.
The U.S. Open recently said that at the 2018 US Open, Rolex timepieces and clocks will be visible throughout the grounds of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, including the signature clock that is affixed to the outer façade of the Arthur Ashe Stadium.
There are famous Rolex Clocks all over the world at places like Pebble Beach, and Wimbledon, so we will probably see something like the one in the photo below.
Speaking of Billy Jean King and Arthur Ashe, one thing they have in common is their love of Rolex. The more I think about Rolex becoming the lead sponsor of The US Open, the more it seems like a perfectly natural fit.

The US Open recently released the following statement:
Swiss watchmaker Rolex, a longtime supporter of tennis, has become an official sponsor of the US Open and will serve as the tournament’s Official Timekeeper and Official Timepiece starting immediately with preparations for the 2018 US Open.
At this year’s tournament, Rolex timepieces and clocks will be visible throughout the grounds of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, including the signature clock that is affixed to the outer façade of Arthur Ashe Stadium.
In addition to its new US Open sponsorship, Rolex will sponsor the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati, completing its sponsorship of all nine Masters Series events.
The new multi-year partnership between the USTA and Rolex also includes Rolex's support of the USTA National Campus at Lake Nona in Orlando, Fla., as well as the programs of the USTA Foundation, the official charitable arm of the USTA, which assists under-resourced youth.
“Rolex is a true champion of tennis that shares the USTA’s passion for the sport,” said Gordon Smith, Chief Executive Officer & Executive Director, USTA. “As we celebrate 50 years of the US Open, we are delighted to welcome this iconic, luxury brand as a partner, and we are thankful for their support of the USTA’s mission to grow the game.”
Rolex has supported tennis for the last 40 years, beginning with its association with Wimbledon in 1978 and serving as Associate Sponsor and Official Timekeeper of the Australian Open.
“It was only natural that Rolex would seek to build on its Grand Slam heritage, in this case through an association with the USTA and its flagship tournament, the US Open,” said Stewart Wicht, President and CEO of Rolex Watch USA. “The partnership brings together two organizations who share a passion for quality, excellence, precision and performance.”
The US Open, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2018, will take place from Aug. 27 to Sept. 9 in New York
World class tennis players who wear Rolex are common as we see in the photo below of Björn Borg & John McEnroe both sporting Rolex Datejust models back in the day...It's interesting to notice that one is wearing a Datejust on a Jubilee, and the other on an Oyster bracelet...Comme ci, comme ça...

Rockin' Roger Federer did it again!!! He won his record-breaking 20th Grand Slam Title, thus further cementing his position as the greatest tennis player in history!
Roger wore his steel and white gold 42MM Rolex SKY-DWELLER with a black dial during the awards ceremony for the Australian Open. The Rolex SKY-DWELLER is a GMT Annual Calendar which is the first all-new Rolex watch model introduced since the original Rolex YACHT-MASTER in 1992. The red indicator on the edge of the dial at 7 O'clock is the month indicator, and the inner ring keeps 24 hour time in a second time-zone. This is a very cool looking watch!
One of the really cool unique features of the SKY-DWELLER is the fluted bezel is used to switch between all the functions of the watch. Rolex calls this feature Rolex Ring Command. People have always loved how Rolex sports models like the Submariner and GMT-Master have spinning bezels. My first Rolex was a Submariner and after I got it I kept fidgeting with the unidirectional spinning bezel. Same with my GMT-Master, which spun both ways. When I got my first Rolex Datejust and Day-Date I kept trying to spin the fluted bezel even though I knew it didn't spin.
