The Human Kind Greening Your Future

The Human Kind
Greening Your Future
Taking Care Of Mother Earth

Peter Gross from Denmark is a reader of Jake's Rolex Watch Blog and he sent in an email to share information about The Human Kind Project which you can visit by clicking here.

Peter wrote:

"Hi Jake,

Sorry about not being Rolex specific but I think people with a passion for endurance in design and high standard of quality and workmanship in the things we buy, also share a common interest in the environment we live in.

We're all aware of the ongoing debate about global warming and right now in this moment the COP15, United Nations Climate Change Conference is taking place here in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The Danish Microphone company, DPA Microphones A/S, has just released The Human Kind–a song to save the climate.

About the project:

Greening Your Future

Released in September 2009 to raise awareness of climate change issues, this song encourages participants of the UN's Climate Change Conference (COP15) to make the right decisions.

The Human Kind features well known artists such as Maggie Reilly, Stig Kreutzfeldt, James Sampson and Marie Carmen Koppel.

All proceeds benefit the Buffelsdraai Community Reforestation Project in Durban, South Africa. Supported by DANIDA, this project aims to plant 82.000 indigenous trees in the buffer zone of a regional waste landfill site. The carbon that these trees sequester will contribute to Durban’s goal of hosting a carbon-neutral or climate friendly FIFA Soccer World Cup 2010.

The indigenous forest that will result will have major ecological and socio-economic benefits. The biodiversity of the area will be restored, ecosystem services like reduction in soil erosion and protection of water quality will be improved and the local communities will benefit from employment and income generation opportunities.

I (Jake) would like to thank Peter for taking the time to share this information with us and I would like to add my perspective on the issue of Global Warming.

There are two sides to every coin and many, many, many scientists argue that Global Warming is very real and poses a huge threat to the future of Mother Earth.

I refer to the planet we all share as "Mother Earth" because it is the only world we have and know. I am not a treehugger but I think we should have a symbiotic relationship with our planet.

The way I look at it is if Global Warming is real, we should be doing everything we can to counter the effects, and if it is not real and many world-class scientists are hallucinating, I believe we should be doing the exact same things to take care of Mother Earth as if Global Warming does exist.

Just to be crystal clear, I am saying I think Global Warming is real, but even it if is not, I think humanity should do everything it can to take care of Earth. For instance, I can't understand why in the United States, or in every country for that matter, why all new home construction is not required to have a solar system and airborne water collection system that takes the house off the grid!?!

Creating such a system would be great for the economy and would put zillions of people to work!!!

Anyway, I would like to thank Peter Gross for sharing and ask all of Jake's Rolex Watch Blog readers to do everything they can to help Mother Earth.
