Dr. Phil wears an Everose Rolex Daytona (Reference 1166505) that features a matching Everose dial with black subdials as seen in the photo above and below.

Dr. Phil is featured below on the Late Show with James Corden and notice he is wearing his Everose Daytona.

Dr. Phil was discovered by Oprah Winfrey and his Dr. Phil Show debuted in 2002 and has been running since then on the CBS TV network.

I've mentioned before that I'm a tennis fan, so I was excited to see the talented 23-year-old British player join the Rolex family. I wasn't surprised that he was sporting the 39-mm white-dial Oyster Perpetual on his official picture. The OP has been a featured watch on Rolex website's front page lately. It is such a perfect design. 

Kyle Edmund told his Twitter followers last week that working with Rolex is “an incredible moment for me. Proud to partner with such a prestigious brand Rolex. Looking forward to being part of the team.” The announcement was made just before the Laver Cup began in Chicago, a Cup that his team won Sunday. I wrote about it on Twitter.

The Laver Cup was created two years ago by Roger Federer who approached Rolex to sponsor the championship. It was named after Australian tennis legend Rod Laver who is also a Rolex brand ambassador. 


The Laver Cup is like nothing else: it pits Europe against the rest of the world and includes other tennis legends like Björn Borg, the team captain for Europe, and John McEnroe. It is fun to see so many tennis stars on one stage. Europe won.

I love the Rolex Yacht-Master that Kyle is wearing. I've tried one on at my AD. I was amazed how the Oysterflex bracelet makes it so comfortable to wear. The inside of the bracelet is equipped with a patented longitudinal cushion system that stabilizes the watch on the wrist. I also love bi-directional bezels (I don't dive but use my bezels all the time). 

It is the perfect bracelet when you're raising the Laver Cup filled with Champagne, as you celebrate a victory with Roger Federer and Björn Borg, two tennis legends, two fellow Rolex ambassadors.

"My name is Edmund, Kyle Edmund." The British athlete wears the Yacht-Master very well with a grey suit and a white shirt. The black bracelet creates a good contrast with the grey suit. The gold on the case dresses it up. Bulgarian tennis player Grigor Dimitrov, left, also wears a Yacht-Master. 

Below we can see both Edmund and Dimitrov (who makes a face) wearing Yacht-Masters. 

Dimitrov is also a Rolex ambassador.

This year the Laver Cup took place in Chicago, but next year the tennis stars will gather very close to Rolex headquarters: Geneva!

SNL Youngest Star Wears Rolex

As a new season of Saturday Night Live begins next week, all eyes are on Pete Davidson who is the first SNL cast member to be born in the 1990s. In the last four years, the 24-year-old has steadily become one of the show’s most valuable players. 

Pete is from New York. His father was a firefighter who died in service during the September 11 attacks; he was last seen running up the stairs of the World Trade Center, just prior to its collapse. Pete, who was seven years old at the time, was profoundly affected by the loss. He turned to comedy to cope.

I'm a big fan of Saturday Night Live and I've been watching Pete for a while. He is truly talented. He joined the cast of SNL during the 2014 season at the age of 20! 

I always like seeing young, rising stars choosing mechanical watch brands like Rolex. Steel sports Rolexes might be in high demand, but for the youth, gold is definitely in! 
 

Pete is currently engaged to music star Ariana Grande. He announced the engagement on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

The photo below of Ursula Andress & Sean Connery was taken on the set of The James Bond film titled, Dr. No back in 1962, and in the photo we see Sean Connery sporting his Submariner. It crossed my mind that in a story I published in the past about Elvis Presley, he was also wearing the same 'Big Crown' Rolex Submariner model on a nylon strap, just like Sean Conner pictured below. Turns out, it is a small world after all!!!

Robert Herjavec is best known as being one of the Sharks on the major hit, Shark Tank. Robert was born in Croatia (formerly Yugoslavia) and at the age of 8 years old, in 1972 his family moved to Halifax, Canada, where they arrived with one suitcase and $20. His family then moved to Toronto and lived in the basement of a friend of the family for 18 months. At the time Robert spoke no English. In the photo below we see Robert wearing his Platinum Rolex Daytona, which is commonly referred to by its nickname of Playtona.

Robert's father got a job in a factory making only $76 per week and would walk to work instead of taking the bus in order to save money for his family. Robert once said that his father was "a really, really tough guy" once heard Robert complaining about how kids from school had been making fun of him and responded by telling Rober never to complain. This lack of complaining became a guiding principle for Robert and contributed significantly to his persistence. 

SHARK TANK

Robert Herjavec is one of six sharks on Shark Tank, as we see below from top left to bottom right: Daymond John, Mark Cuban, Roger Herjavec, Barbara Corcoran, Kevin O'Leary, & Lori Greiner.

Shark Tank is one of the most popular TV shows in modern history, which features real-life entrepreneurs who get pitched on different ideas and then decide if they want to invest in them—while offering financial business advice to companies. The lighting and decoration on the set of Shark Tank is amazing! It is dimly lit and kind of reminds me of the Cheesecake Factory.

Robert Herjavec has an amazing collection of Rolex watches which features many different Daytona models as well as a white gold Submariner and a rose gold Yacht-Master.

Robert Herjavec was married in 1990 to Diane Plese and they seperated in 2014. They have two duaghters. In 2015 Robert fell in love with his former Dancing with the Stars partner Kym Johnson, and they got married in 2016. In late 2018 they had twins.

If you are a reader of Jake's Rolex World, you know that I believe Elon Musk is the single smartest person that has ever lived—bar none. Elon Musk is not only a founder of Tesla and Solar City but also has Space X, as well as the Boring Company. He is also the founder of Hyperloop and Neuralink. 

The video below represents one of the most profound conversations I have ever heard two people have.  They talk about Tesla and The Trans Siberian Orchestra. Elon Musk confirms he is an Alien, that we are all cyborgs living in an internet collective, and that there is a higher than not likelihood we are living in a simulator.
They drink some whiskey and later end up smoking a little pot, which loosens things up a bit.
In this conversation just after 2:04:30 they start talking about watches which leads to the subject of Rolex. Specifically, they talk about Rolex Perpetual automatic movements. Joe kiddingly tells Elon "You need to kick down the door at Rolex and go: 'You b____ are lazy'" in response to how Joe has a Rolex that runs fast. How bizarre would that be, if Elon Musk showed up at Rolex to talk innovation!?!!
I plan to reach out to Joe and tell him to take his Rolex to the Rolex Service Center, which can and should be able to overhaul his Rolex to make it precise. I will also tell him about the Rolex 3135 movement which keeps +2/-2 which is based upon the Rolex Superlative Chronometer Certification.
This video caused a great deal of controversy as Elon appeared to take a smoke a tobacco cigarette which had marijuana mixed in at 2:10:32. If you watch it closely you will notice that Elon did NOT inhale at all, but immediately blew it out. This event was blown way out of proportion by the media, which in turn caused Tesla stock to drop by 6.3%. Marijuana is legal in California, and Elon said he does not smoke pot because it makes him unproductive. What a world!
At the end of the interview, Elon says that we all need more love in the world, and I agree...

I had never heard of Joe Rogan before his Elon Musk interview. I noticed Joe mentioned he recently interviewed Deil deGrasse Tyson, who is also one of the smartest men in history, and here are the video interviews:

One of the great Hollywood icons has passed away. Burt Reynolds starred in many famous movies including Deliverance, Smokey & the Bandit, Cannonball Run, and Boogie Nights. Burt was also a major sex symbol in the late 1970s. 

In the recent photo above we see Burt Reynolds wearing his vintage yellow gold Rolex Datejust with a deep blue dial with diamond markers on a special yellow gold bracelet. Burt wore this watch for several decades and if you look closely you will notice his yellow gold Rolex Datejust has sword/leaf hands which were popular in the late 1950s and early 1960s, which would lead me to believe this watch was from that era. Also, notice it has an unusual gold bracelet, but Rolex offered such exotic bracelets on the Datejust and Day-Date back then.

Burt Reynolds has owned and worn many different Rolex models which we will take a look at in this story. The photo of Burt was taken below on May 4, 1978, at the premiere of 'The End' in Los Angeles. We see he is wearing a GMT-Master or Submariner.

Stan Barrett

In order to really understand Burt Reynolds we have to examine two men who were very close to him, that had a big influence on his life. Those men are Hal Needham and Stan Barrett.

First, let's take a look at Stan Barrett who stunt doubled Paul Newman and Burt Reynolds more than any other person: 

I reached out to Stan Barrett for comment on this article and he said:

"I am so sorry to have learned that Burt passed away. Ironically, I recently spoke with Burt and was planning to visit him in the next few weeks. Burt's passing really took me by surprise! Burt Reynolds affected many peoples lives. In my opinion, he could and should have been one of the greatest serious actors, and would have been if he had done things differently. 

Burt was the number 1 actor in the world for 5 years and he made my career. The 1966 TV series, Hawk was Burt's breakout show where he was the star and he and Hal Needham chose me to be Burt's stuntman. After having doubled Burt on Hawk, when I came back to Hollywood, I became recognized as THE go-to stuntman. Burt and Hawk literally made my stunt career!

Burt and I lived together for a year in a Woodland Hills condo and had a lot of good times together. Burt was on my first stock car race team.  He was a great athlete and could have been a great stuntman if he chose that path."

If you are not familiar with Stan Barrett he was not only the top stuntman in Hollywood but also broke back to back to back land speed records which culminated in him being the first driver to break the speed of sound barrier on land. In the photo below we see Stan Barrett in 1979 at Edwards Air Force Base as he prepares to break through the sound barrier in his Budweiser Rocket car. Notice Stan is wearing a Daytona and GMT-Master on his wrist.

Hal Needham

Hal Needham was a highly enigmatic figure who was known for being the best stuntman in the world before Stan Barrett came along. Of course, Stan Barret was Hal Needham's protege.

Hal Needham grew up in a poor family and ended up in the military. He was an unusually brave man who ended up becoming the top stuntman in Hollywood as well as the top stunt-coordinator, second unit director, as well as becoming a successful writer, and director. Hal wrote Smokey & The Bandit (1977), and Hooper (1978) with Johnny Best. Burt Reynolds was in awe of Hal Needham and emulated him in many ways. Hal Needham was a real go-getter and a hardcore alpha-male who constantly pushed the envelope. As a matter of fact, the first developed the Budweiser Rocket car, and after trying to set a land speed record, almost died. He passed the baton on to his protege, Stan Barrett who followed in his footsteps.

Hal Needham was an extremely macho man who was cool, flamboyant and unusually self-assured. Stan Barrett told me: 

"When I first met Hal Needham he was pretty low key. Hal wore jeans and drove a pickup truck with a straw cowboy hat. But after his success with Smokey and The Bandit, he came into his own. I gave Hal his Rolex Day-Date which was in so many ways symbolic of his leadership style and confidence."

Hal Needham is pictured below holding his Oscar that matches his yellow gold Rolex Day-Date. 

In my observation, Hal was a super example of a man who wore his Rolex Day-Date and used it as a tool watch for inspiration. 

In the photo below we see Stan Barrett wearing his Pepsi Rolex GMT-Master and Rolex Daytona on his left wrist as he prepares to become the first man to drive a vehicle on earth past the speed of sound. The Rolex Daytona on his wrist is no ordinary watch. Stan Barrett's best friend, Paul Newman gave him that Daytona especially for the occasion of his attempt to break the sound barrier. 

Hal Needham doubled Burt Reynolds on Riverboat and Gunsmoke. According to Stan Barrett, Burt emulated and wanted to be Hal Needham.

Stan Barrett also told me that when Hal Needham chose him to double Burt Reynolds on Hawk, he said, "I looked in this kids eyes and I saw myself." Stan continued and said, "James Best, Hal Needham, and Burt Reynolds made me."

In the photo below taken in 1984 at the Atlanta Journal 500, we see legendary Stuntman and Movie Director Hal Needham with Burt Reynolds. Burt is hugging Stan Barrett who is wearing his Pepsi GMT-Master he wore when he was the first man to break the speed of sound barrier on land in 1979.

Stan told me a story about how he was the stunt double for Burt Reynolds on the movie Hooper in 1978, and interestingly enough, he loaned Burt Reynolds his Rolex GMT-Master to wear in the movie as Burt played the role of Hal, and they kept passing it back and forth as Stan wore it in the stunt scenes and Burt wore it in the regular scenes. 

Stan mentioned to me that the action movie Hooper was loosely based upon his and Hal Needham's careers as stuntmen. Hall Needham directed the movie, Hooper.

In the photo above, we see Burt Reynolds on the set of Hooper, wearing Stan Barrett's Rolex GMT-Master, as he poses for a photo with fellow top-actor Clint Eastwood and movie producer, Lawrence Gordon.

The first image below is from the opening scene of Hooper (1978) and shows Burt Reynolds switching from wearing his Rolex GMT-Master to a Rolex Day-Date before he performs a motorcycle stunt. 

You can watch the opening scene below for Hooper where Bury Reynolds switches from a GMT-master to a Rolex President. This is a HIGHLY iconic movie Rolex cameo appearance up there with Alec Baldwin's command performance in Glengarry Glen Ross with a Rolex DAy-Date on his wrists. 



There are a number of scenes in Hooper where you can see Bury Reynolds wearing Stan Barrett's Rolex GMT-Master.

In the screengrab below we see Burt Reynolds wearing Hal Needham's Rolex Day-Date in the movie Hooper.

In this next photo, we see Burt Reynolds with costar, Farrah Fawcett Majors from a photo from Cannonball Run which came out in 1981. In 1981 Bury and Farrah were the two biggest sex symbols on earth.

In the photo below we see Burt Reynolds with Sylvester Stallone, who is wearing his Rolex Submariner.

Burt Reynolds was married to the gorgeous actress Loni Anderson from 1988 to 1994.

Boogie Nights

In 1997 Burt Reynolds made a huge comeback with his role in Boogie Nights for which he won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor. Notice he is wearing his yellow gold Rolex Datejust on a Jubilee Bracelet.

An American James Bond?

Sean Connery grew tired of playing James Bond and in 1968 decided to move on with his acting career. Albert Broccoli, the producer of James Bond approached Burt Reynolds and offered him the role. Burt Reynolds claimed he rejected the role saying "An American can't play James Bond. It just can't be done!!!"

It sure is interesting to wonder what would have happened if Burt Reynolds had accepted the role? Kind of like, wondering what Raiders Of The Lost Ark what have been like if Tom Selleck played Indiana Jones instead of Harrison Ford!?! 

It is also interesting to see how remarkably similar Sean Connery and Burt Reynolds look when they got older. By the way, both Sean Connery and Burt Reynolds are wearing toupees in this photo.

Burt Reynolds passed on many movies including playing the role of Hans Solo in Star Wars.
