Captain Danny, who publishes the Coronet Rolex blog, shared this amazing shot with us that he took of what I believed is his current favorite Rolex watch which is a vintage Rolex Explorer II with a red hand, and he took it in the cockpit of his A330.

Every Rolex Tells A Story

 U.S. NAVY GMT-MASTER

This is a super-fascinating Rolex ad from the 1960s that offers a first hand account from a U.S. Navy Pilot who went through a harrowing experience with his trusted Rolex on his wrist when he was violently ejected from his airplane. This vintage Rolex ad appears courtesy of AdPatina.com.

...Rolex Airplane Shot Of The Day...

Rolex GMT-Master Sky High
A Digital Postcard From The Gobi Desert

I am less than two weeks away from entering my 10th years of publishing Jake's Rolex World, which is really exciting!!! One of the most unusual aspects that I never expected, is how many love letters I get from dudes!?!! Telling my they are fans of my work product...The image landed in my inbox today, from Ferdinand who said:

Hi Jake,

Big fan of your site. Currently flying over the Gobi desert, enjoying your recent stories via inflight wifi on the Sea-Dweller while my Pepsi 16710 has a rest from the recent travels in China.

Keep up the great work, lot of friends are enjoying it.

Best regards,
Ferdinand

Well, I want to begin by thanking Ferdinand fro sending-in shuch a great photo! FWIW, I have spend a lot of time on long airplane flights, tripping on the Rolex watch I as wearing...so I understand your perspective perfectly...and what a perfect place to enjoy reading my recent coverage of the history of the Rolex SEA-DWELLER!!!

The Gobi Desert is located in northern and northwestern China, and also covers southern Mongolia.

1953 Chuck Yeager Air Force Test Pilot...

Chuck Yeager in 1953

Since we were on the subject of Captian Chesley Sullenberger who began his career in the Air Force flying F-4 Phantom II fighter planes, I thought I would share this photo of Chuck Yeager that was taken at Edwards Air Force Base Test Flight Center in 1953–and of course Chuck is wearing his trusted Rolex.

This photo was taken 56 years ago and Chuck Yeager still wears a Rolex to this day. When he broke the sound barrier in 1947 he was also wearing his Rolex Oyster which was 62 years ago. Click the image below for better detail:
