Rolex has been part of the Life Aquatic from day one, and was also a visible icon in early popular TV shows like Flipper, as well as on the wrist of scuba diving pioneer, Jacques-Yves Cousteau.
Lloyd Bridges was a very successful actor who stared in TV shows and in over 140 films. He was also a life-long Rolex wearer. In the screen grab above from SEA-HUNT we see Lloyd rocking his Submariner with a Fred Perry polo shirt with a popped-up collar back in the late 1950s, and in the photo below we see him several decades later, still wearing a Rolex Submariner.

Lloyd Bridges' son's Beau and Jeff Bridges are pictured below with their mother Dorothy, and father Lloyd. This photo was taken in the mid 1960s, and you notice Lloyd is wearing his trademark Rolex Submariner.
Lloyd Bridges stared on the TV show SEA-HUNT as the American scuba-diving adventurer, Mike Nelson from 1958 to 1961. During its 4 season run, SEA-HUNT filmed 155 episodes and was about the adventures of a scuba-diver named Mike Nelson who was an retired U.S. Navy Frogman who became a freelance diver.
One of the unique characteristics of the SEA-HUNT was that at the end of every episode, Lloyd Bridges would ask his viewers to help protect and preserve the oceans of the world.
On the two following magazine covers from 1960, we see Lloyd Bridges wearing a Rolex Oyster bracelet.
Lloyd Bridges was so into scuba-diving, he ended up doing most of the stunts on underwater stunts on SEA-HUNT. Many famous actors began their careers including Larry Hagman (Dallas), Robert Conrad (The Wild Wild West) Leonard Nimoy (Star Trek) and Jack Nicholson.
Lamar Boren did the underwater cinematography and went on to work on other Ivan Tors' productions which included the TV show Flipper as well as three James Bond movies: Thunderball, You Only Live Twice and The Spy Who Loved Me.
Lloyd Bridges wore his Rolex Submariner as part of his aquatic lifestyle before Rolex even began marketing the Submariner the same way as we see in the ad below from 1965..
It appears to my eyes and research that Lloyd Bridges wore a Rolex Oyster Perpetual on an Oyster bracelet during some part of SEA-HUNT as seen below.
Lloyd Bridges went on to become a famous movie actor and is the father of fellow actor, Jeff Bridges.
Lloyd Bridges is pictured above with his wife, and below many years later wearing his trademark yellow gold Rolex Submariner.
Yesterday I covered the epic Wimbledon Men's Singles Finals which is tennis at it's best. This video which features the Princess of Wales and Rocking Roger Federer playing tennis at Wimbledon is tons of fun!!!
Also, if you missed the AMAZING Wimbledon Men's Singles Championship Finals yesterday, then you will love this extended highlight recap from Wimbledon!!!
Russell Crowe is probably best known for his Academy Award for Best Actor performance, where he played the starring role in Gladiator. Russell Crowe is pictured below in a recent photos sporting his Rolex Submariner which has a ceramic bezel insert.
In the photos below, taken decades earlier, we see Russell Crowe wearing a similar Rolex Submariner as pictured above.
Platinum Day-Date
Russell Crow also wears a Platinum Rolex Day-Date as seen in the pictures below. Russell was born in Wellington, New Zealand and has starred in many blockbuster hits including L.A. Confidential, Cinderella Man and A Beautiful Mind.
Alex Jones has been a highly controversial figure for many decades now, but that is not surprising as many, many men who have worn Rolex have been independent-minded barrier breakers and critical thinkers who beat to their own drum, and have gone against the grain of the status quo. Alex thinks very highly of RFK Jr and is impressed with his bid for the U.S. Presidency in 2024. I am also a huge fan of RFK Jr., and have a blog dedicated to showcasing his progress toward the U.S. Presidency.
I want to give Alex a complement in that I think he has really cool Rolex style in the sense I think his navy blue T-Shirt with the logos looks really cool with his LV Submariner. Alex Jones has been wearing Rolex for a long time, and in the photo below taken years ago, we see him rocking a standard black dial/black bezel Rolex Submariner.
Today as we see above he seems to primarily wear an LV Submariner.
I can't figure out if Alex Jones is wearing a green dial Hulk or a black dial LV Submariner. Most of the time it looks like he is wearing a black dial Submariner, but in the photo below, it looks like his dial might be green!?!!
Below is a recent video where Alex Jones talks about RFK Jr., President Trump, and Elon Musk.
It's that time of the year again and Wimbledon is in full swing so I thought it would be fun to hop in the Rolex Time Machine with Tennis G.O.A.T. Roger Federer and go back to take a look at the history of Rolex and Wimbledon.
Roger Federer
It is so bizarre to see Rocking Roger Federer in the audience at Wimbledon 2023, since he retired from playing professional tennis.
Nick Gould discovered the photo of Roger and Mirka at Wimbledon 2023, and Rolex just released this superb video about Rocking Roger's amazing tennis career achievements.
Borg v. McEnroe
1980 Wimbledon
The rivalry between John McEnroe and Björn Borg is one of the greatest in history. Rolex created this really cool video so I thought it would be great to share a little more detail on their relationship.
In the photo below taken back in the early 1980s, we see Björn Borg and John McEnroe and they are both wearing Rolex Datejust watches.
Rolex is the primary sponsor of the Wimbledon Tennis tournament, as well as being the official timekeeper. Rolex recently released this amazing four-part documentary on the history of Wimbledon and it is amazing!!!
Alan Arkin back in 1984 rocking his Rolex Explorer
Alan Arkin
Belongs To The Ages
1934-2023
Alan Arkin passed away today at the age of 89. He was an amazing actor and human being and he wore his vintage Rolex Explorer for over a half-decade, so let's hop in the Rolex Time Machine and reflect on some of his outstanding career achievements as an actor which spanned 7 decades:
The Kominski Method
Rolex Explorer
I have a confession to make: My absolute favorite way to watch a Movie or TV show is cold. Specifically, I like to watch new content without knowing anything whatsoever about what I am about to watch, and that is what occurred when I began watching The Kominsky Method which stars Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin.
The show just blew my mind, and it is kind of like a combination of Curb Your Enthusiasm and Thelma & Louise. Of course, I could not help but notice Alan Arkin rocks a vintage Rolex Explorer on the show as we seen on his wrist in the photo below. It turns out this is his real watch that he wore in real life.
Alan Arkin costars with Michael Douglas who is amazing in the Kominsky Method. Whenever I think of Michael Douglas I think of his portrayal of Gordon Gekko in Wall Street, but after a few episodes of Kominsky I seemed to have forgotten about that. Both Arkin and Douglas were AMAZING in The Kominsky Method.
Alan Arkin is arguably one of the greatest actors in history. In his amazing career that has spanned 7 decades he has won 2 Academy Awards for Best Actor in The Russians Are Coming [1969] & The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter [1969]. He also won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in Little Miss Sunshine [2007], and Argo [2013].
I remember first watching 'The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter' movie in Film Literature class at George Washington High School in San Francisco in 10th grade, which was a really trippy movie. All I really remember is the character who was like Baby Huey who thew a rock through the bakery window to steal the cake on display as he could not resist it :-0
Spoiler Alert: Alan Arkin didn't reprise his role in Season three which debuted on Netflix back on July 2021, which was a bummer as he was so great in Season One and Two as we see in this trailer for Season 3. I learned he didn't return due to his doctors concern that he might catch Covid:
Th Coffee is for Closers, Always Be Closing (ABC) scene in Glengarry Glen Ross in which Alan Arkin is featured is one of the most famous and iconic moments that feature a Rolex Presidential model.
Historically Rolex has always been extremely secretive and discreet, and no journalists in the past have ever been invited "INSIDE ROLEX" to explore and report on all four Rolex Manufacturing faclities in Switzerland.
In November 2013, this changed when Rolex invited Jake to take an unprecdented journey into the heart of Rolex to learn and report on everything he witnessed and learned.
This Super-Detailed 3 Part Story is a "MUST READ" story for anybody who wants to understand what really makes Rolex tick.
