A.J. Foyt and Richard Petty...

...Rolex Wearing Racing Legends...

A.J. Foyt & Richard Petty

What do racing legends A.J. Foyt and Richard Petty have in common, beside being two of the most winning race car drivers in history? Wearing Rolex, of course, and we see them hanging-out together on the 4th of July, back in 1975. A.J. Foyt is wearing his yellow gold Rolex Day-Date in the photo below, and Richard Petty has not yet began sporting his now trademark mustache...

How cool is this totally mod French Rolex Ad from the early 1960s, which features a beautiful woman with her distinguished man sitting on the hood of his Mercedes 300SL Gullwing. Very La Dolce Vita & Mad Men.

"She Knows what a watch means for a man."

U.S. National Archives Releases 911 Photos of U.S. Vice President Cheney

...Rolex President History...

U.S. National Archives Releases 911 Photos of

U.S. Vice President
Dick Cheney
Yellow Gold Rolex Day-Date

There has always been a great deal of mystery surrounding the events of September 11, 2001 (commonly referred to as 911), and in particular, around the events as they occurred in the White House on that frightful day. On Friday of this last week the U.S. National Archives released the first images ever seen of then U.S Vice President Dick Cheney as he watched the events of the 911 terrorist attacks unfold in the White House as well as photos of what occurred later that day and evening, and of course he was wearing his trademark Rolex Day-Date model, which is commonly referred to as The Rolex President.

Rolex has a current marketing campaign that says, "A Rolex Not Only Tells Time, It Tells History", and these photos clearly stand testament to this fact. The photos were taken by Dick Cheney's staff photographer, and they showcase how the Bush Administration responded to the 911 terrorist attacks, both before and after President Bush arrived back in Washington D.C.

The majority of photos were taken inside the Presidential Emergency Operations Center (PEOC) which is located in a subterranean basement underneath the White House in Washington D.C. The photos were released under the Freedom Of Information Act, based upon a request from a producer for video appearing on the PBS TV documentary series named Frontline.

You can view all 356 photos from The National Archive on their Flickr page.

Generations of Wimbledon Champions Wearing Rolex

Roger Federer won the Wimbledon gentlemen's semifinals year before last, and last year he lost in the finals to Novak Djokovic. To date, he is considered to be the greatest tennis player in history, and tomorrow he has another rendezvous with destiny to potentially break another Wimbledon record when he challenges Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon gentleman's finals. To date, Roger Federer is tied with Pete Sampras for having won the greatest number of Wimbledon gentleman's championships at 7 each. If he wins tomorrow, he will stand alone with eight wins.

There are very few men that have won the coveted Wimbledon title multiple times, and in the photo below we see Roger Federer with tennis legends John McEnroe and Björn Borg. McEnroe won Wimbledon three times in 1981, 1983 and 1984. Borg won Wimbledon five times, in 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979 and 1980.

Tomorrow's tournament represents Federer's 26th Grand Slam final. Roger Federer won his first Wimbledon title when he was only 21 years old, eleven years ago on July 6, 2003. Roger Federer is pictured below chatting with fellow tennis legend, Björn Borg.

One of the most outstanding achievements of Roger Federer's career is that unlike John McEnroe and Björn Borg, Federer never stopped playing world-class tennis. Both John McEnroe and Björn Borg never won a major tennis tournament after the age of 25, yet Roger has and continues to play superb tennis. As Frank Sinatra once said, "Good things endure."

...Now & Then...

John McEnroe and Björn Borg

John McEnroe and Björn Borg have remained friends over the decades and we see them below in a recent photo.

In the photo below taken back in the early 1980s, we see Björn Borg and John McEnroe and they are both wearing Rolex Datejust watches.

In the photo below we see Björn Borg with fellow tennis legends, Vitas Gerulaitus and John McEnroe, and we see McEnroe wearing his Rolex Datejust.

Björn Borg is considered to be on of the greatest and most iconic professional tennis players in history.

In the photo below taken four decades ago we see Björn Borg sporting a Rolex Datjust on a Jubilee bracelet.

In the recently taken photos below we see Björn Borg sporting a two-tone Rolex Submariner.
