South Face Annapurna Rolex Documentary
Embedded in Rolex iPad App
Extended Edition

I always wished Rolex would do full length exploration documentaries in the Jacques-Yves Cousteau/ David Attenborough style, and they seem to be starting to!!! This one is named South Face Annapurna. I recommend clicking the full-screen option, and crank it up to 1080P. I hope Rolex brings us much more of this amazing and real adventure. Long live the tool watch!!! BTW This video is embedded in Rolex's iPad Application.

Rolex Macro Shot of The Day: Rolex Crown Up Close...

...Rolex Macro Shot Of The Day...

Hans Wilsdorf founded the Rolex brand 100 Years ago in 1908 and came up with the Rolex Crown logo 17 years later in 1925. A year later Rolex created the first waterproof watch named the Rolex Oyster.

The All-New Rolex SKY-DWELLER
42MM Annual Calendar

Wow!!! This is a pretty crazy watch!!! Looks like Rolex is getting back into making complicated watches, at least this one is an Annual Calendar. Fascinating Captain!

The all-new Rolex Sky-Dweller is a really interesting new model for many reasons. First of all, Rolex VERY, VERY Rarely introduces new models. The Rolex Sky-Dweller is similar to a Rolex GMT-Master in the sense that it keeps time in two different time zones.

Rolex was founded in 1905 by Hans Wilsdorf in London, England, and Rolex has a legendary history of inventing many different horological wrist-watch innovations. One of the unique complications (features) in this all-new model, that I have never seen before, is having an aperture window behind each of the 12 windows, to represent the month of the year!!!

In the photo above and below, we see the aperture window at 8pm darked-out, which means it's August. Another undocumented feature I noticed, is that having the month aperture window allows the wearer to easily see which corresponding business quarter they are in. In other words, August is the last month in the third-quarter, which is very easily indicated.

This new feature is really innovative and cool–another Rolex first. It really looks like Rolex is back on its game with innovation and with meeting market desire.

Rolex Introduces...
All-New Tudor Heritage Black Bay
[41mm: Reference 79220R]

Rolex just formally introduced their all-new Tudor Heritage Black Bay model. How beautiful is this new Heritage model!?!?!?!?!

I absolutely LOVE the red white and black color combination!!!! This model even has a gilt dial and the hands are made out of rose gold, to give it a true vintage look!!! If you are not familiar with the Tudor brand, it was founded by Rolex and is still completely owned by Rolex.

The Tudor Black Bay is 41mm with a polished and satin/brushed finish. The burgundy bezel is unidirectional, with a matching burgundy red crown tube and Big Crown. Self-winding mechanical movement with a power reserve of 38 hours. The watch has a domed sapphire crystal, and is waterproof to 660 feet (200 meters). You can purchase it with a leather strap with a folding clasp and safety catch, or with an additional fabric strap with a buckle.

All-New Rolex Sports Model Launch at BaselWorld 2012?

All-New Rolex Sports Model
Launch at BaselWorld 2012?

ROLEX SKY-DWELLER

Rolex.com has a BaselWorld 2012 teaser on the main page. What is this!?!?!? The Rolex Forums are abuzz with speculation. Some think it is a new watch named the Rolex Sky-Dweller. We will soon find out when Rolex showcases the new model at BaselWorld 2012.

If you are not familiar with BaselWorld 2012, it is the largest and most significant annual watch trade show in the world, and Rolex has made a habit of launching all new models at BaselWorld since the early 1950s.

Jake's Rolex World will have complete coverage of Rolex BaselWorld 2012.

The Original Rolex SKY-DWELLER
U.S. Air Force Test Pilot & Astronaut

Set All-Time Speed Record Flying an X-15 at Mach 6.7

Maybe the all-new Rolex SKY-DWELLER is an homage to the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot & Astronaut, William J. "Pete" Knight? In 1960 Rolex set the all-time depth record when the U.S. Navy Bathyscaphe Trieste descended down into the Mariana Trench in the Challenger Deep of the coast of Guam, with a Rolex DEEP-SEA Special attached to the outside of the submersible. The Trieste successfully dove 7 miles down to the deepest know chasm on earth. When the Trieste came back up to the surface, the Rolex DEEP-SEA was still functioning perfectly. Mankind had finally conquered inner-space.

And just like Chuck Yeager wore a Rolex Oyster when he set the all-time speed record in 1947, William J. "Pete" Knight wore his Pepsi Rolex GMT Master when he set this record. Several years ago Rolex launched the all-new Rolex DEEP-SEA SEA-DWELLER as an homage to the celebrate the original Rolex DEEP-SEA Special, so perhaps the new Rolex SKY-MASTER is an homage to William J. "Pete" Knights achievement of flying at Mach 6.7.
