The All-New Rolex SKY-DWELLER
42MM Annual Calendar
Wow!!! This is a pretty crazy watch!!! Looks like Rolex is getting back into making complicated watches, at least this one is an Annual Calendar. Fascinating Captain!
The all-new Rolex Sky-Dweller is a really interesting new model for many reasons. First of all, Rolex VERY, VERY Rarely introduces new models. The Rolex Sky-Dweller is similar to a Rolex GMT-Master in the sense that it keeps time in two different time zones.
Rolex was founded in 1905 by Hans Wilsdorf in London, England, and Rolex has a legendary history of inventing many different horological wrist-watch innovations. One of the unique complications (features) in this all-new model, that I have never seen before, is having an aperture window behind each of the 12 windows, to represent the month of the year!!!
In the photo above and below, we see the aperture window at 8pm darked-out, which means it's August. Another undocumented feature I noticed, is that having the month aperture window allows the wearer to easily see which corresponding business quarter they are in. In other words, August is the last month in the third-quarter, which is very easily indicated.
This new feature is really innovative and cool–another Rolex first. It really looks like Rolex is back on its game with innovation and with meeting market desire.
