Robert Urich was a famous American actor who is best known for his roles in the TV shows Vega$, where he played detective Dan Tanna, as well as staring on Spenser for Hire. Early in his career he stared in Kung Fu, S.W.A.T., Soap, and The Lazurus Man.

Robert Urich was also well known as the host of National Geographic Explorer from 1985 to 1995.

he was a pretty neat guy. I remember his episodes of Spencer for Hire. He had the best pad in Las Vegas; could drive his 57 TBird right into the place. He left us much too young Godbless 'em.

Hi Randy,

I think the 1957 T-Bird was from the show "Vegas" where he played Dan Tana.

It is hard to believe he died when he was only 55. He looks so alive in the photo...

I got them confused; but yes, "Vegas" and "Spencer for Hire". He was also on "The Rookies" an ABC police drama; I believe thats where he started in Prime Time TV...

I was just doing some research and I realized Ian Fleming was only 56 when he experienced early checkout. Sheesh!?!

I did not know this about Mr. Fleming.
BTW, I saw Roger on a talkshow, mighta been Merv Griffen, anyways, he was wearing a white gold DAY-DATE and smoking a stogi !
