Presidential Watch Sunday: An Unprecedented Look At The Presidency...

Presidential Watch Sunday
An Unprecedented Look At The Presidency

The important thing is to not stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery ever day. Never lose a holy curiosity!!! –Albert Einstein

Welcome to the sixth installment of Presidential Watch Sunday. I would like to thank the White House and Pete Souza (The Official White House Photographer) for giving us unprecedented access to photos of the United States Presidency and I would like to thank MSNBC for sharing the video of President Obama's unprecedented speech.

This first photo shows President Obama looking at the King Abdul Aziz Order of Merit medal presented to him by Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz at the beginning of their bilateral meeting at the King's Farm in Riyadh, Saudia Arabia on June 3, 2009. The Saudi Order of Merit medal is Saudi Arabia's highest honor. I wonder if the metal is solid gold?

Click on all images for great detail!!!

This next photo is of President Obama waving goodbye from the top of the steps of Air Force One as he departs King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on his way to Cairo, Egypt on June 4, 2009.

This next photo is of President Obama (pictured on far right) next to his press secretary, Robert Gibbs and National Security Council Chief of Staff, Mark Lippert (far left) as they glance out the window of Air Force One in awe of the ancient Egyptian pyramids they will be soon touring.

One of the things I like so much about President Obama is he seems like such a normal guy with zero pretense and a very healthy curiosity about the world around him–in many ways–like an innocent child. For some reason, when I examine all these photos, it feels like we get to go along and see all this great stuff that is new to him as well as us. Very cool!!!

After President Obama landed, he attended a meeting with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in Cairo, Egypt on June 4, 2009. The photo below shows President Obama leaving the meeting with Mubarak next to him.

President Obama jokingly shows off the hat he was given prior to his tour of the great Pyramids and the Sphinx in Egypt. President Obama looks like a character out of Indiana Jones.

In this next photo, President Obama is pictured standing between Egypt's Great Sphinx on the left and the Pyramid of Khafre on the right on June 4, 2009.

In this next shot, we see President Obama standing in front of the great pyramid. O.K., I am definitely starting to hear the Raider's Of The Lost Art theme starting to play in the background!!! "Dun!, dun!, dun!, dun!...dun, dun, duh. Dun!, dun!, dun!, dun!...dun, dun, duh." No time to argue, quick, throw me the idol!!!

In this next photo we see President Obama as he carefully descends down a steep flight of stairs as he tours the Pyramid of Giza with his senior staff on June 4, 2009.

This next photo is really interesting and kind of funny because President Obama said he thought the ancient Egyptian hieroglyphic located toward the bottom of the column on the right side of the photo looked like him and it does!!!

This next shot is of President Obama walking with Zahi Hawass (left) who is the General of the Egyptian Supreme Council of Aniquities. Senior Presidential Advisor, David Axelrod and Cheif of Staff, Rahm Emanuel are pictured on the right.

This next photo is of President Obama looking out the window of his Marine One helicopter at the Great Pyramids as he leaves.

Two weeks ago, on Presidential Watch Sunday, I shared this video with you of President Obama's outstanding speech he gave at Cairo University. I included it here in case you missed it:

I Spy Saturday Season 1 [Episode 10 : Tatia]

I Spy Saturday
Season 1 [Episode 10 : Tatia]
Original Air Date: November 17, 1965

I have some great news regarding I Spy!!! This episode was great!!! For the first time, I thoroughly enjoyed watching an episode of I Spy. I think it has to do with the fact Cosby and Culp are warmed up now and the show is starting to develop some character depth.

I also figured out what keeps me coming back for more I Spy, and that is Bill Cosby and Robert Culp's characters are really cool!!! The way they dress and their attitude with those vintage Rolex Pepsi's which are all over this episode, and they are just cool. Bill Cosby's style with the mock-turtleneck t-shirts reminds me of Tiger Woods–very cool.

Rolex Wrist Shot of the Day: GV Milgauss on the new iPhone 3Gs...

First iPhone 3G S Wrist-Shot

Oscar, in Florida woke up at 5am yesterday and went down to the Apple store to pick up the all-new Apple iPhone 3Gs which has a 3 Megapixel camera with a new macro touch screen function. The way it works, is that the new iPhone camera has an auto-focus camera, but if you touch an item on the screen if auto-focuses on just that item. So in this photo Oscar, touched his Rolex Milgauss GV and which put it in focus.

This is the first Rolex Wrist shot I have seen that was taken with the new iPhone and have a feeling we will be seeing many more...

I Want A Good Watch Camera...

For me personally, the significantly improved camera on the iPhone is the main reason I will be upgrading. I can't even begin to tell you how many stunning shots I missed, because of the lame camera on the earlier iPhone. The whole point of having a camera in your iPhone is so you don't have to carry around a separate point and shoot!!! At 3Megapixels, with built in auto-focus and macro point-and-focus, the new iPhone 3G S is a dream come true!!! Also, I have seen video that was shot with the iPhone and it looks really good!!!

I am extremely curious to see what hardware and software features the 4th generation iPhone that will come out a year from now will have and look like. I say this because with the feature-set on the all-new 3G S iPhone Apple picked the last of the low-hanging-fruit (pun not intended). From here on out, it has to be about real innovation and not just cobbling together 5 year old Pocket PC technology that sticks a Motorola Razr inside an HP iPaq...

Flipper Friday
Season 1 [Episode 9: Mr. Marvello]
Original Air Date: November 14, 1964

This is an interesting episode of Flipper. The only Rolex observation I have is that I think Sandy is wearing that smaller Submariner on a tropical Rolex strap.

iPhone 3.0 Software Available...

iPhone 3.0 Software Available
3rd Time Is A Charm!!!

Just in case you didn't notice, Apple just released the all new iPhone 3.0 Software and I have had a chance to mess around with it. It is amazing!!

One of the many great new features is the ability to turn the screen horizontally to type (as seen below). Typing in landscape mode makes it a zillion time easier and far, far more accurate.

The iPhone software can be put on any first or second generation iPhone and comes standard on the all-new iPhone 3GS. The 3.0 makes everything on the iPhone run much, much faster and it makes the iPhone far more responsive. Other great features included in the update include:

• Universal Spotlight Search
• Voice Recorder
• Cut/Copy/Paste
• Sync Your Notes (Although Evernote from Evernote.com is a million times better).
• Stereo Bluetooth (Great for working-out).

A few great tips that are not documented:

1. When you turn on the screen and slide your finger to unlock the screen, the iPhone goes to your home screen with the icons. If you then click on the home button, it will go straight to the spotlight search which is the new hotness for launching apps and finding anything almost instantly.

For instance, lets say you know that the Rolling Stones Jumping Jack Flash is on your iPod and you want to hear it but you don't want to waste minutes looking for it in the iPod. You simply go to spotlight and start typing "jumpi" and it will show up instantly–same with contacts. You get the idea.

2. Instant camera feature tip: This is a great hint if you like to use the camera on the iPhone a lot. The iPhone 3.0 iPhone software has a new feature that you can find by going to "Settings" then click on "General" then on "Home" and select "Camera." This way, wherever you are in the iphone if you double tap on the home button, it will go straight to the camera.

These two features alone make the iPhone so much better!!! If you don't have an iPhone yet, now it is time to get one!!! Especially since they start at $99.

Introducing The JAKEe FATSTRAP...

Introducing
The JAKEe FATSTRAP System

As many of you know, I have been a clothing and accessory designer for more than a quarter century. I also bought my first Rolex Submariner more than 25 years ago.

I started Jake's Rolex Watch Blog because I wanted to share all the knowledge I gained over the years about Rolex. I also wanted to separate the fact from the fiction on a great deal of Rolex folklore–which I have done.

My Design Mind

I must admit after spending more than a year staring at Rolex watches 7 days a week, I could not help but think about how to make them look better. I love the iconic Rolex Oyster bracelet, but I got kind of sick of looking at it every day. I wanted something with more flair and style. I wanted to change it up–Something different...

The challenge I experienced was I wanted to buy some cool, innovative straps, but I could not find any–so as usual–I decided to create my own, and the result is the JAKEe Strap Brand.

The first strap I designed, which I am introducing today, is known as the JAKEeFATSTRAP and it is pictured below. I designed it around my LV Submariner, but as you will learn, it looks great on other watch brands.

When I set out to design a line of watch straps I was not interested in copying anybody else so I kept experimenting and I significantly exceeded my own expectations. The first strap system I am launching is known as the JAKEeFATSTRAP and just one of these bands has the ability to achieve 6 completely different looks.

For example, the strap in the photo above of the LV Submariner is on the EXACT same strap as the one in the photo below. In other words, the reversible brown Stingray Calfskin carmel strap in the photo above is reversible and its back side is black Stingray Calfskin with black thread as seen below.

Instead of writing a long article about the Fatstrap, I invite you to visit the three different related sites that will get you up to speed on all the details. You can click on the green links to open the pages:

1. JAKEe.com. This is where you can order a custom JAKEe Fatstrap.

2. JAKEe Modular Strap System Blog. I created this blog to show photos of the different straps I design–so you can get a real feel for what they look like. This is also the place to learn everything about the JAKEe Modular Strap System.

3. The History Of Fatstraps. I wrote this article which appears on the JAKEe Modular Strap Blog and walks you through the history of Fatstraps.
In my personal opinion, the JAKEeFATSTRAP is the coolest looking strap I have ever seen and I am not just saying that since it is mine. I have been wearing them for several months to test them and they are amazing!!!

Each JAKEeFATSTRAP is custom made to fit your watch and your wrist as well as your style. The quality of the straps is the absolute best in the world and the straps are an engineering feat in and of themselves.

A Funny Story

I will share a funny and true story with you. I went out to dinner with my uncle Chris who is 59 years old. I would describe Chris as being a young 59 years old. We are pals and we go mountain biking together. One day, after a great bike ride, we were dining in the Cheesecake Factory in Marin County, California, U.S.A. I had just received and was wearing the first generation prototype of the my JAKEeFATSTRAP.

I was wearing my LV Submariner on the Carmel Brown side with the matching green stitching. I asked my uncle Chris to try on my my JAKEeFATSTRAP and he refused saying he was not interested. I insisted and told him I just wanted to see what it looked like on somebody else. Chris reluctantly put it on his wrist.

I was tripping on how great it looked and I asked him what he thought? He responded by saying it was not his style. He said he thought it was too 1970s. I responded by saying that did not make sense because he was in him prime in the 1970s. He preceded to take off the watch and I asked him to leave it on for a little while longer so I could check it you. He reluctantly agreed.

About five minutes later, this stunningly gorgeous blonde woman sitting at the table next to us said "Excuse me!?!" She pointed at the JAKEeFATSTRAP on my uncle Chris wrist and said, "That is a really nice looking watch strap!!!" Chris and I were stunned!!! The next time I saw Chris he asked if he could try on the JAKEeFATSTRAP!?! He then told me he loved the strap and had to get one. True story!!!

Like No Other

I showed another friend of mine the JAKEeFATSTRAP and he said, "It looks awesome, but it does not look like a Rolex. Especially with the LV Submariner with the green bezel." I responded by saying "That is the whole point!!! I don't want to go to a meeting where 6 dudes are all wearing stainless steel Submariner models. I want my own unique look!!!"

I remember going to a party and meeting a lawyer who was wearing my exact LV Submariner and we talked for a few hours. We had a great conversation but every time I looked at his LV Submariner, it freaked me out and made me uncomfortable. That's just one of the reasons I love the JAKEeFATSTRAP System, which, by the way is available in more that 30 colors.

If there is anything I can do to answer your questions about the JAKEeFATSTRAP or if you have questions please feel free to email me at: Jake@JakeE.com.

By the way, the JAKEeFATSTRAP does not only look great on a modern Rolex like in the photos above, but it also looks superb on vintage Rolex watches like my pal, Seth Chandler's Mocha GMT Master that was made in 1972:

In the photo below you see Seth's Mocha GMT by on just the thin strap what weaves through the JAKEeFATSTRAP pictured above. One of the cool features with the JAKEeFATSTRAP is it requires no tools to change since it slips through the springbars like a NATO.

Keep in mind that if you reverse the strap pictured below, it is black stingray on the other side with black stitching.
